About the Business
Welcome to Yoseikan Budo, an esteemed institution located in the beautiful city of Kalamunda, Forrestfield in Western Australia. As an establishment dedicated to health and martial arts, we offer a unique and comprehensive system developed by Minoru Mochizuki Shihan, known as Yoseikan Budo.
Yoseikan Budo combines the principles and techniques from Karate and Aikibudo, two traditional Japanese martial arts. Through our training programs, we aim to equip individuals of all ages with essential self-defense skills while fostering confidence, self-discipline, character, and self-esteem. Our students not only learn punches, kicks, joint locks, and holds but also build lasting friendships, socialize, and have fun.
Physical fitness is a key aspect of Yoseikan Budo, as our training improves flexibility, coordination, and strength. Whether you are a child or an adult, our safe and supportive environment allows you to feel good about yourself and your achievements. No matter your age or experience level, positive changes can be made to your life through Yoseikan Budo.
We are proud to be affiliated with the Australian Karate Federation and the International Gyokushin Ryu Aikido Federation, represented in Australia by Jon MARSHALL Sensei of the Melbourne Budo Academy. This affiliation ensures that our training programs meet the highest standards of excellence and professionalism.
At Yoseikan Budo, you will be guided by Roy Hebden Sensei, who has over thirty years of experience in Yoseikan Karate and Kobudo. Roy Sensei has trained extensively with renowned martial arts masters such as Hiroo Mochizuki Shihan, Mitchi Mochizuki Sensei, Mario Ambrosini Sensei, and Terumi Washizu Kaiso. Roy Sensei holds a Level One Coaching Qualification in Karate from the Australian Coaching Council and is recognized as an instructor by the Australian Karate Federation.
We also pay tribute to two influential figures in our institution's history. Unno Sensei, who introduced Yoseikan Budo to Western Australia, was a former State Coach of the Western Australian Karate team and held numerous dan grades. Although Unno Sensei passed away in 2006, his legacy lives on in our teachings. Stephen Weir Sensei, one of Unno Sensei's first students, played a vital role in the early years of Yoseikan Budo in Forrestfield. He represented both Western Australia and Australia in sport karate and trained under the guidance of Minoru Mochizuki Kancho. Stephen Sensei's martial arts knowledge and contributions continue to inspire us.
Join us at Yoseikan Budo and embark on a journey of self-discovery, physical fitness, and personal growth. Whether you are seeking self-defense skills, improved fitness, or a supportive community, our institution offers a holistic approach to martial arts training.
