About the Business
Welcome to Flight Training Adelaide (FTA), a world-class aviation training institution located in Parafield, Australia. As an establishment and point of interest, we offer comprehensive training solutions for both fixed wing and rotary wing pilots.
In order to become an airline pilot in Australia, it is essential to possess the necessary theoretical knowledge and flying skills to navigate the ever-changing aviation landscape. At FTA, we are a CASA approved integrated flying school, providing the AVI50222 Diploma of Aviation (Commercial Pilot Licence – Aeroplane) for fixed wing pilots and the AVI50319 Diploma of Aviation (Commercial Pilot Licence – Helicopter) for rotary wing pilots. Our training approach focuses on producing future captains through tailored face-to-face ground theory and practical flying instruction.
Founded in 1982, FTA has a long-standing reputation as a respected flying school in Australia. Throughout the years, the institution has been under the ownership of various corporations, including Hawker de Havilland and BAE SYSTEMS. In 2005, FTA was acquired by Young Brothers Aviation, a Hong Kong-based company.
At FTA, we offer airline cadet and self-funded aviation training programs to domestic and international students. Our services encompass the entire training process, from selection to ab initio training and advanced courses. All of our programs follow an integrated learning approach, ensuring that students develop their theoretical knowledge, aircraft handling skills, aviation law knowledge, and cockpit management skills simultaneously. Additionally, we provide theory classes for the Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) in Australia.
To support our training ethos and produce future airline and helicopter captains, we have made substantial investments in infrastructure and assets. Our campuses in Adelaide, South Australia, and Wellcamp, Queensland, are purposefully designed and equipped with theory classrooms, simulators, aircraft maintenance facilities, and administration buildings. The aircraft parking areas and student accommodation are conveniently located within the campus boundaries.
At FTA, we pride ourselves on our highly trained and dedicated staff who ensure that our courses align with our facilities and exceed the expectations of our customer airlines, helicopter operators, and candidates. We strongly believe in the value of face-to-face teaching and learning in our industry, which is why all of our courses are delivered in person. Our integrated training programs consist of face-to-face ground theory classes and one-on-one flying lessons led by specialized instructors in flying, ground theory, and multicrew cooperation training. We understand the importance of personal interactions between students and trainers, as it directly impacts their ability to succeed.
Whether you are an aspiring airline cadet or a general aviation student, FTA's Adelaide or Wellcamp flying school has the perfect course for you. We invite you to explore our website for more information about our world-class airline pilot training school.

"FTA has a fantastic and very thorough ground school. During a one-semester exchange from America I was taught ground school at UniSA by FTA instructors. They are all great teachers with real-world experience and plenty of stories to share. They taught me more about aviation in a classroom in ten weeks than I learned in three months of flight lessons in America. Australia has high standards and tough exams for aviation cadets and FTA has impressively good pass rates. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone, local and abroad! Michael Choi is the best instructor but all of them are good."
"My experience in this flying school has not been a positive one. Instructors cared very little in your progression or helping you succeed during the early stages of your training. I felt that they only focused on gaining enough hours so they can apply for the airlines. Priority is of course, given to airline cadets than self funded students. Flights were regularly cancelled last minute without instructor calling prior due to bad weather. Instructor changes happen often, so you cannot experience consistency in being taught with each having different methods. Office politics between instructor and students existed, making this experience an overall, unpleasant and uncomfortable one."
"FTA is a great incubator for all budding aviators. The exposure and environment they provide is truly class apart. It was a great time learning to fly at FTA and would definitely recommend FTA going ahead! :)"
"FTA has a world class training facilities including accommodations. Having been trained from FTA, I can surely say they have high standard of training . I have really enjoyed my time being at FTA."
"There’s a stark difference between pilots and Aviators, FTA makes aviators. I have no doubt that they created the best possible flight training environment for me , from ground school to flying it’s simply the best the industry can offer :)"
