Veterinary Surgeons Board of South Australia Adelaide, South Australia 5000
About the Business
Welcome to the Veterinary Surgeons Board of South Australia (VSBSA), located in the vibrant city of Adelaide. As an independent statutory authority, our primary goal is to regulate the provision of veterinary treatment to safeguard the public interest and ensure the health, safety, and welfare of animals.
Our annual reports are presented to the South Australian Parliament through the Minister for Primary Industries and Regional Development (PIRSA). However, it's important to note that the VSBSA operates independently from PIRSA, and the Minister does not have the authority to direct our statutory functions.
At the VSBSA, we strive to uphold high professional standards of competence and conduct within the veterinary profession. We diligently investigate and act upon complaints received from the public regarding veterinary surgeons. All our actions are carried out in accordance with the Veterinary Practice Act 2003.
Our responsibilities include recognizing courses of education or training that qualify individuals for registration on the general or specialist register, determining the requirements for registration, establishing and maintaining the necessary registers, and developing codes of conduct and professional standards for veterinary surgeons. We also endorse guidelines on continuing education and handle complaints against veterinary surgeons or service providers.
To enhance our services, we have recently partnered with My eQuals, the official digital platform for tertiary credentials in higher education. This collaboration allows us to streamline processes and provide more efficient assistance.
For sensitive correspondence or physical attachments, such as photos or documents, we recommend using our postal address and including a return postal address for your convenience.
When conducting our work, we are committed to fairness, impartiality, consistency, and respectful and courteous behavior. To ensure effective and efficient communication, we kindly request that you familiarize yourself with our correspondence policy, provide accurate and complete information, and treat our team with respect and courtesy.
We aim to respond to correspondence within 20 working days of receipt, although complex matters may require longer investigation times. If your inquiry falls outside our jurisdiction, we will guide you to the appropriate organization or government department/agency for assistance.
Please note that we do not offer legal advice or personal advisory services to the community, veterinary service providers, or veterinary surgeons. Additionally, we will only respond to items where we are the primary recipient and will not engage with unsolicited advertisements or offensive content. Any threatening or illegal correspondence will be promptly forwarded to the South Australia Police.
Rest assured that your correspondence with us becomes an official record of the Veterinary Surgeons Board of South Australia, contributing to our commitment to transparency and accountability.
