Welcome to Highgate Primary School! Located in the heart of Highgate, on Lincoln Street, we are proud to be one of the oldest schools in the Perth metropolitan area, with a rich and vibrant history.

Highgate Primary School opened its doors on 1 November 1895 with just 80 children. As the student population grew, so did our school, with new buildings being added to accommodate the increasing number of students. In 1897, due to the high number of children, a separate Infants' School was built, which was later completed in 1899.

In 1975, the Infants' and Senior schools were merged to form the Highgate Primary School that stands today. Since then, our school has continued to grow and evolve to meet the needs of our students.

To cater to our rapidly growing student population, several additions have been made to our school over the years. In 1999, we constructed an Undercover Area, providing a versatile space for various activities. In 2001 and 2008, we proudly opened a new library, offering a wide range of resources for our students. In 2011, we further expanded our facilities with a purpose-built art room and additional classrooms located behind the assembly area.

In 2017, we completed the construction of a state-of-the-art, double-storey, eight-classroom early childhood centre, designed specifically to meet the needs of our youngest learners. This facility provides a nurturing and stimulating environment for our early childhood education programs.

Continuing our commitment to providing an exceptional learning environment, in 2022, we have added three more classrooms to our grounds, bringing the total number of classrooms to 39. Additionally, we have two classrooms located at our offsite kindergarten, ensuring that all our students have access to quality education.
