About the Business
Welcome to Nurturing Growth, a safe and nurturing space located at Subiaco, Hay Street, 375 in Australia. Our institution is dedicated to helping individuals heal and grow through therapy, group work, and education. As the founder, Helen, I am a passionate therapist and supervisor with over 10 years of experience working with people from diverse backgrounds and circumstances. I am PACFA-registered at the clinical level and bring both professional expertise and personal understanding to my work.
At Nurturing Growth, we offer a range of services including one-on-one counseling, group work, supervision, and training. Our goal is to nurture the best in everyone we see, including you! Clients and students have consistently described me as kind, knowledgeable, and above all, helpful. I am committed to providing a trauma-informed approach to my work, drawing from various therapeutic approaches to support your growth and empowerment.
One of my areas of expertise is working with women on various aspects of their lives, including stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, perinatal issues, relationship and family challenges, parenting difficulties, life changes, aging, grief, and loss. I also enjoy mentoring and working with students, professionals, and clients, and I am experienced in offering supervision, leading groups, presenting, lecturing, and teaching. In the past, I have facilitated psychotherapeutic groups for women and delivered presentations to students, professionals, and colleagues.
As women, we often face unique challenges and demands that can be overwhelming. Additionally, we may encounter traumatic events that lead to stress, anxiety, grief, shame, depression, or other issues. At Nurturing Growth, we strive to provide the right support at the right time, helping you navigate through difficult times and emerge stronger and wiser.
Our institution is dedicated to supporting your growth and empowerment as we explore issues that are important to you. These may include recovery from family and domestic violence, perinatal and parenting issues, challenges associated with different life stages and events, existential questions, and grief and loss.
We believe that participating in group work takes courage, as it involves connecting with others who have faced similar struggles and can offer support and understanding. Our therapeutic groups provide a safe space for personal and shared conversations, allowing clients to witness their own transformation and strengthen their belief in their own abilities. Group work is often complemented with individual therapy, depending on individual needs and preferences. Our groups are typically small, consisting of 8-10 people, and facilitated by two therapists to ensure respectful connections and personal growth.
One of our notable group programs is the Power to Change Group for Women. This empowering group was developed by a European Commission project and aims to help women access information and support, build confidence, and become more empowered. The group meets weekly during term time and runs for 16 weeks, although the duration may vary based on demand. Medicare rebates are available for group work through referral to our psychologist facilitating the group.
In addition to our group work, we also offer further information, guest lectures, training, and discussion forums on various topics of interest. We are open to partnering with other professionals to deliver these services or provide assistance in structuring their delivery.
Mentoring and supporting the development of new therapists is a crucial aspect of our institution. We offer discounted and group supervision to students studying counseling and psychotherapy disciplines. Our aim is to help you become more reflective, develop your philosophy of practice, and enhance your strengths as a practitioner.
At Nurturing Growth, a mental health care plan or referral is not necessary to see a counselor or psychotherapist. We believe in accessibility and welcome anyone seeking support and growth.
Lastly, we would like to acknowledge and pay our respect to the Whadjuk people, the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we live and work.
If you are ready to embark on a journey of healing, growth, and empowerment, we invite you to reach out to us at Nurturing Growth. Together, we can navigate through life's challenges and nurture the best in you.
