Reviews
"Both atmosphere and service are over average but the food is just ok, we are a bit disappointed. Because we expected this highly rated pub can give us some surprise. But it is worth to stop by if U pass by Rathdowney!"
"My wife & I went here for a meal last month and can say that we will never go back! My wife sat down near one of the high chairs at the window while I stood at the bar to get us some drinks. There were about 5 locals sitting at the bar and 3 female bar staff, who completely ignored me. All three of them kept looking at me then either served the locals or just pottered about without asking me what I wanted to order. After 14 minutes of me standing there , one of them them eventually came up and took my order. It was obvious that they did not want us to be in the main bar but wanted us to go into another bar where they were serving other people as they came into that area. After a few more drinks of me being served in the other bar, even though we were sitting in the main bar, we decided to order some dinner, BIG MISTAKE! We ordered the eye fillet steak which was as well overcooked and as chewy as a football. All of the veggies were the frozen packet kind and the mashed potato, had obviously been sitting in the fridge for a day or more and been reheated along with the vegetables and the meal was stone cold in some spots and warm in other parts. It was absolutely disgusting and by far the worst pub meal we have had EVER! We always love to go to country pubs but will certainly never give this pub any further trade in the future. It is obvious that this pub does not want any out of town visitors coming in for food or drinks."
"Wow what a treat. Fresh cooked steak sandwich. Side of chips. Due to the size of the group service was slow however this was well explained on the menu and allowed us plenty of time to rest. Well worth the wait. Cold beer Well done thanks"
"Stopped in for lunch, I had a wrapped Rathy Works Berger and my wife had a standard one, it came with a serve of homemade chips too, all very nicely done and tasty."
