Welcome to Townshend Theatre, located at 61 Townshend Road in Subiaco, Australia. Our institution, the Irish Club, was established in 1950 with the aim of promoting Irish culture and community in Perth. Since then, we have grown and become a non-political, non-sectarian establishment that welcomes people from all nationalities.

At the Irish Club Bar, open from Monday to Saturday starting at 5pm, you can enjoy a wide selection of drinks. Additionally, our kitchen serves classic Irish and pub favorites from 6pm, except on Mondays. Every week, we host a Quiz Night at 6pm, which is open to everyone.

If you're looking for a venue for a private event, both the Irish Club and Townshend Theatre are available for booking. We have four unique and well-equipped spaces across two levels, suitable for all types of functions and events.

Townshend Theatre, located on the ground level, is a dedicated community theatre space. It can accommodate intimate shows or crowds of up to 250 people, offering various seating options such as theatre, cabaret, tiered, or cocktail seating. The venue includes tap beer, a performance stage, a green room, dressing rooms, as well as stage lighting and sound facilities.

Our Main Hall, situated on the second floor, is a large and flexible space perfect for a wide range of events. Equipped with five screens, surround sound, a projector, and a microphone, it can accommodate up to 150 standing or 110 seated guests.

For more intimate gatherings of up to 50 people, the Roses Room on the second floor is an ideal choice. It features its own bar and a mixture of traditional and high table seating.

The Library Room, also located on the second floor, is perfect for smaller meetings, presentations, or private functions. It can accommodate up to 16 people and is equipped with a large screen with HDMI compatibility.

By becoming a member of the Irish Club, you not only support a local community Club but also contribute to the various cultural activities we organize, including music, dancing, language classes, and theatre. Membership grants you exclusive benefits and helps us continue to be the hub of all things Irish in Western Australia.

Townshend Theatre is available for bookings for parties, quiz nights, concerts, theatre events, comedy gigs, and more. It is a hidden gem in a great central location.

We are proud to be the home of the Irish Theatre Players, Irish Choir, Torc Ceili Dance, and St Andrew Society of WA. Join us on Sunday, April 9th, for a special ticketed event organized by Cairde Sinn Fein to remember the heroes of Easter 1916 who sacrificed so much.
