About the Business
Welcome to Flinders University Bachelor of Nursing, located at Bedford Park, Sturt Road, Australia. As an establishment and point of interest, our institution, which falls under the College of Nursing and Health Sciences, offers a comprehensive Bachelor of Nursing program.
Upon successful completion of 108 units of study, students will be awarded a Bachelor of Nursing degree and will be eligible for registration as a nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA). Please note that professional experience placement is required in all pathways.
For students who meet specific academic criteria and provided that the College has the necessary resources and staff, enrollment in the honours program may be offered. The minimum requirements for consideration for entry to all undergraduate courses are detailed in the University's entry requirements.
We offer various pathways for different candidates. The Pre-registration pathway is designed for individuals with no previous formal nursing or tertiary qualification, enrolled nurses with a Diploma of Nursing, psychiatric/mental health/mental deficiency nurses seeking registration as general nurses, and nurses with an overseas qualification not recognized by the NMBA. The program of study requires three years of full-time study or the equivalent part-time in the internal mode only.
Enrolled nurses registered with the NMBA and holding a Diploma of Nursing may be eligible for up to 36 units of credit. Psychiatric/mental health/mental deficiency nurses may also be eligible for credit based on previous qualifications and work experience.
New applicants for the 2021 entry must demonstrate English language proficiency as specified by the NMBA's English language skills registration standard.
The Graduate Entry pathway is an accelerated program for candidates who hold an approved degree in a field other than nursing. Holders of an approved three-year full-time or part-time equivalent higher education diploma are also eligible for consideration for admission. The program of study requires two years of full-time study or the equivalent part-time in the internal mode only.
The Re-entry pathway is designed for students whose period of non-registration prevents them from re-registering with the NMBA. This course requires two years of full-time study or the equivalent part-time in the internal mode only. Applicants must provide evidence of previous registration as a general nurse with the NMBA, along with evidence of practice as a registered general nurse.
The Bachelor of Nursing aims to prepare comprehensive nurses who are reflective about their practice, possess well-developed clinical reasoning skills, and can confidently engage in nursing practice in various environments and contexts. Our program ensures that students meet the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council (ANMAC) Registered Nurse Accreditation Standards (2012) and achieve the Flinders University graduate qualities.
Enrollment in an honours program may be offered to eligible students, provided they meet specific academic criteria and the College can provide the necessary resources and staff to supervise their program of study. To qualify for the honours degree, a student must satisfactorily complete 36 units of study within one year full-time or two years part-time.
