As part of the Town's commitment to providing beautiful outdoor spaces for our community, John Tonkin Reserve is a popular choice for wedding ceremonies, children's parties, and leisurely outings.

At John Tonkin Reserve, we encourage visitors to make use of our facilities and enjoy the natural beauty that surrounds them. However, please keep in mind that all booking requests are subject to the Town's discretion. While we strive to accommodate every request, the final decision rests with the Town.

To ensure the smooth operation of events held within the Town, including those organized by the Council, all activities must comply with the Town's Sustainable Events Policy. If your event involves any of the listed items, we kindly request that you submit a booking application at least two weeks (10 business days) in advance using our Reserves Booking Form. The completed form can be submitted in person at our office, sent via post, or emailed to [email protected].

Once your booking request is approved, a confirmation letter will be provided. Please note that while we do not accept another event booking in the same location on the same day, exclusive use of the park or reserve cannot be granted, as public access must remain unrestricted at all times.

In line with our commitment to environmental sustainability, the Council has implemented a ban on the release of balloons within the Town of East Fremantle, including our parks, reserves, and the East Fremantle foreshore. If balloons are used as part of your event, please ensure they are securely tied and removed at the conclusion of your hire period.

If you are planning a children's birthday party and wish to have a Bouncy Castle at John Tonkin Reserve, written permission must be obtained when submitting your booking application. Please note that Bouncy Castle operators are responsible for providing their own power and can only secure the inflatable structures with sandbags.

For those interested in conducting commercial recreational activities at our parks, a commercial recreation permit is required. To apply for this permit, please refer to the Fact Sheet and Application Form available at our office or on our website.
