Glenelg's esplanade has a rich history, with the sand dunes once being transformed into summer residences for South Australia's prominent and wealthy individuals. Seafield Tower, the first of its kind along the esplanade, was designed as two self-contained, 15-room summer residences for Sir Henry Ayers and Sir Thomas Elder. These mansions and gardens have shaped Glenelg into a suburb of character and charm.

The Bay Discovery Centre, located in the 1870s Town Hall, showcases local history exhibits, and dolphin-spotting cruises depart from nearby Holdfast Marina. The area also boasts laid-back pubs, organic cafes, global eateries, and indie boutiques, giving it a trendy and vibrant atmosphere.

Reviews
"Don't get confused between Unwind @ Glenelg Skyline Penthouse and the Skykline Beachside Penthouse, very different quality of property, both in the same building. We stay 3 Nights in Beachside and had a good experience so make sure you book the right one."
"The main feature, the jacuzzi, does not work. The oven does not work. The couches are old and dirty. It did not feel like a clean place."
"The worst penthouse in town! None of the amenities were working - spa, gas cooker (we had to go home to cook for our guests!!). Remote for the TV is missing. All these photos were taken before we booked in. Stains on doona, cigarette butts on the rooftop, dishwasher was left unclean, clean rolled up towel had make up on it, mold in the bathroom, black hand prints on the ceiling, bin left unclean, empty cannisters underneath the sofa, 3x broken chairs, sofa was wearing off, stains on the walls, cabinets were falling off! They take $800 bond off you and the host was trying to get us for broken blinds when they were already broken in the first place. They didn't give any compensation at all! We were there for holiday, wasn't expecting to do an entry condition report for this place!"
"Buyer beware! I booked and paid a significant deposit, only for the owner to cancel after four months of holding my money - with no explanation."
"The apartment was well equipped and clean however, the bedroom with the bunks in was totally inappropriate; as most of the wardrobes and the drawers could not be used because they could not be opened properly, the room was just too small for the bunk bed. If we have realised in advance that the jacuzzi and the table and chairs had to be accessed via a bedroom we would not have booked the penthouse. In my opinion the table and chairs should have been on the same level and the kitchen and the jacuzzi should have had a separate access and not through someone else's bedroom."
