About the Business
Welcome to the Capri Theatre, a beloved institution located at 141 Goodwood Road in Goodwood, Australia. As an establishment, movie theater, and point of interest, the Capri Theatre offers an exceptional cinematic experience that goes beyond the ordinary.
Step into our historic venue, built in 1941 and listed as a heritage site, and be transported to a world of captivating storytelling. But the Capri Theatre is more than just a place to watch movies. It is a place where memories are made, causes are supported, and community is celebrated.
One of our notable events is the Junior Stargazer/Space Cadet convention, a gathering that brings together students and parents from across the country for fellowship and scholarly competition. However, this convention takes an unexpected turn when world-changing events disrupt the planned itinerary. It's a thrilling adventure that will leave you on the edge of your seat.
Speaking of incredible true stories, our feature film "Sound of Freedom" shines a light on the darkest of places. Based on a true story, it follows a federal agent who rescues a young boy from ruthless child traffickers. But when he discovers that the boy's sister is still captive, he embarks on a dangerous mission to save her. This gripping tale takes him deep into the Colombian jungle, where he puts his life on the line to free her from a fate worse than death.
At the Capri Theatre, we pride ourselves on being an independent, not-for-profit cinema run by a network of dedicated volunteers. When you purchase a ticket, you contribute to the restoration of our iconic South Australian building and the magnificent WurliTzer organ. So while you enjoy the latest movies, you are also supporting a worthy cause.
But the Capri Theatre is not just about movies; it's about creating a sense of community. By joining the Capri Club for a small annual fee, you can enjoy all your movie tickets for the incredible price of $8. It's an unbeatable deal that gives you access to special events, screenings, and even previews. Plus, you can host your own fundraiser and raise funds for a cause that is dear to your heart.
As a not-for-profit organization, we are immensely grateful to our generous sponsors for their support in preserving this heritage icon for future generations. Without their help, the Capri Theatre would not be the thriving hub of entertainment and community that it is today.
So come and experience the magic of the Capri Theatre. Immerse yourself in captivating films, support worthy causes, and be a part of a vibrant community. We look forward to welcoming you to our historic venue and sharing unforgettable moments together.

Reviews
"The Capri is an absolutely gorgeous old theatre, carefully restored with decor true to its early days in the 1940s. The cinema never has many films screening, but coming here is such a lovely experience I would rather wait and see a movie at the Capri than go to a big corporate cinema complex! The Candy Bar is a Haigh's Chocolate Candy Bar (which makes it amazing!) and the bar has an actual bar! Its totally run by volunteers, and the tickets are incredibly reasonably priced. Definitely worth going to see your next favourite movie here!"
"Stunning art deco style theatre. Very well preserved and maintained. Only downside is that it can be difficult to get a park and the footpaths are fairly bumpy so it is a bit difficult in terms of accessibility. However they do have beautiful toilets including accessible ones and multiple toilets with rails."
"Just a beautiful old style theatre. Got to see the organ being played which is something everyone should experience!"
"Well maintained, clean, majestic theatre. Very affordable movie tickets as well. Pre-movie pipe organs performance was the highlight of the theatre, it was magnificent!"
"Love this old theatre and the fact there are lovely volunteers working there. They obviously love what they do, and it shows in the way they interact with their customers. I took my grandchildren to see a movie in the school holidays, and while we were disappointed not to hear the organ being played, the boys were very interested in the history of the organ and the theatre. Thank you for a unique experience."
