About the Business
Welcome to the Australian Institute of Architects, located at 33 Broadway, Nedlands, Australia. As an establishment and point of interest, we are dedicated to promoting excellence in architecture and advocating for the profession across Australia.
At the forefront of our efforts is the NSW DESIGN AND BUILDING PRACTITIONERS ACT AND REGULATION. These reforms are aimed at overhauling the building and construction industry to restore public confidence and ensure quality and safety outcomes. We are actively working with the government to support these reforms and provide comprehensive resources to our members.
Our focus on building regulation revolves around four key aspects within the profession's areas of expertise. We prioritize the safety of our communities and strive to restore confidence in the sector. To assist clients, we have developed Guidelines for EOI and RFT for architectural services based on best practices in public sector and educational institutions.
Additionally, we have produced a Code of Novation to improve procurement outcomes using novated contracts. These guidelines are relevant to various forms of procurement and aim to maximize the potential for high-quality built outcomes while reducing bidding and assessment costs.
Preserving Australia's heritage is of utmost importance to us, which is why we launched the Hands off Anzac Hall campaign opposing its demolition. We firmly believe in honoring our national history and preserving the extraordinary service and sacrifice of our servicemen and women.
In Victoria, the Victorian Building Planning and Heritage Legislation Amendment Bill 2022 will bring changes to the Architects Act 1991. We urge you to support our campaign by contacting your local legislative assembly or council member.
The Australian Institute of Architects is committed to addressing housing supply and affordability issues. We strive to create a sustainable and equitable built environment for all Australians.
We also offer various fellowship and scholarship opportunities, such as the Dunbar Fellowship and the Philip Y. Bisset Planning (Architecture) Scholarship, to support emerging architects and promote excellence in the field.
As an organization, we acknowledge and express our gratitude to the First Nations peoples, who are the Traditional Custodians of the lands, waters, and skies of Australia. We recognize their significant contributions as the first architects and builders, and we respect their rights to care for Country.
Join us and become a part of EmAGN, our design community for graduates and emerging architects. Benefit from local and national support as you navigate your career in the architecture profession.
To learn more about our support for Indigenous rights and reconciliation, please read our Statement of Support for the Uluru Statement from the Heart and Constitutional Recognition and the Voice to Parliament.
Thank you for visiting the Australian Institute of Architects. We are dedicated to advancing the profession and creating a built environment that reflects our values of excellence, sustainability, and cultural respect.
