"We love this little theatre and the performances they put on. We go 3-5 times a year and enjoy it every time. If your looking to support local theatre I’d recommend you come here."
"It's a small and very welcoming theatre with plays for all ages. My wife and I were very excited to discover it a couple of years ago and gladly came back for every comedy show the theatre crew staged since. We love this place."
"I saw closing night of Next to Normal, and while I was expecting a fairly normal community theatre production, I was utterly blown away by such powerful storytelling. I regularly attend musical theatre and have a professional background in the performing arts myself, and rarely have I experienced storytelling so powerful and moving as this production of Next to Normal - quite a surprise to me as someone who had never heard of Javeenbah Theatre Company before seeing this show, which I spontaneously drove from Brisbane to see. This story explores the mess and complexity of chronic mental illness and bereavement and the tensions they place on marriage and family relationships, and the cast absolutely did justice to such a vulnerable story. The acting was richly suffused with sincerity and those little subtleties that make a character feel truly human. The singing quality was outstanding - I enjoyed the vocals even more than the original cast recording (which I have listened to countless times). Usually the theatre that connects most deeply with me are the stories that I can personally relate to. What made Next to Normal so powerful, though, was that the utterly heart-rending emotions I felt were almost entirely empathetic, that is, the performance allowed me to feel emotions from somebody else's story that I would not ordinarily be able to relate to in my own experiences. I left the theatre feeling beautifully, cathartically raw, with richer insights into the vulnerability and poignance of the human experience. My only regret is that I went to closing night and could not go back for a repeat performance of the same show!"
"It is always such a great night out to come and see a show here. This is a very friendly and tidy place, we love how you can spill outside before, during intermission and after a show. There's nothing quite like live theatre and the last few shows here have been excellent....Billy Liar was excellent (great lead), Sweet Road was gorgeously crafted and Obsession tonight was lovely (great leads again - with the same lead actor from Billy Liar and the wonderful Frankie Spear). Looking forward to the 2018 shows. Thanks!"
