"Goated school. Can't express much how I would like to go back and spend time with Mr Davos."
"As a graduate of Garden College who was at the school since year 7, I wouldn’t have wanted to graduate anywhere else. In year 10 I moved schools to a school with good reputation and actually moved back to GC within a semester because of the supportive and friendly environment that was rare to come by. The teachers at GC provide support like no other and always go above and beyond which I value as not many teachers go out of their way to do this. Through my senior year especially, it was teachers like Mr John Davos and Mrs Aziza Khelil that got me over the finish line and I owe a-lot of my successes to. Not only do they provide a wonderful and healthy environment, their education is up there like any other school which allowed me to graduate with a more than satisfactory ATAR. I often wish I was back at high school at GC. Definitely recommend :)"
"What a fantastic school. Some of the best teachers you'll ever see. Especially their SACE coordinator."
"Been a student at GC from Year 7 and graduated from this school in 2021 and wouldn't have wanted to graduate from anywhere else! The school has had major growth from when I first started to when I finished. The teachers at GC really made it for me. Impeccable support from all of the teachers, especially my senior teachers in year 12, SACE support is so important as senior school is stressful and I can confidently say we had the best SACE support. Special shoutout to Mr Davos, I don't think we would've made it without him he pushed us to the max with max support also. My High School experience at GC was great, had a community feel, everyone was inclusive and welcoming. We got to stick to our Islamic values as well as having the usual school experience; camping, athletics excursions, sports day, expos etc. We were always heard and considered at school especially with SACE subjects, the school went out their way to offer SACE subjects outside of school and go out their way to make sure every student was satisfied."
"From a past student: some teachers are great and the bad teachers were just really horrible. They had a maths teacher who was really violent who threw tables, chairs, and he slammed a door so hard that the window cracked, 30 students can attest to this. Some teachers weren’t fit to be teachers at all, and there were quite a few of them. They would scream at students and treated them in a way as if they were on some sort of power trip or ego high. The learning here is quite behind compared to other schools. I remember once we had a relief teacher in Year 9 and they were surprised to find out that we still did Look Cover Write Say Check instead of stopping in primary school. How appalling is that? Look Cover Write Say Check all the way into the ninth grade. In three entire years only one excursion was provided. When I moved schools I really did struggle to catch up because of how much this school set me back. Also had a really horrible experience with the counsellor as well, they promised to help me and instead they just became pregnant and they left the school for good. Lots and lots of bullying that they struggled to get under control, internally, externally and even between schools. It’s been a few years since then, I’m glad to say I moved because not only did my learning and academics get better but so did my mental health."
