"The worst hospital in AUSTRALIA. I arrived at the hospital (emergency department) 7:20 they made me wait for more than 3 hours without being attended to. I walked at the front to speak to the receptionist and ask why no one was coming to see me, she answered that “you problem is too small you have to wait for hours”. That exactly what happened then everyone that was there to see the doctors but I was LAST :("
"Modbury Hospital restored my faith in the healthcare system. It may not be new and shiny, but the staff have hearts of gold. After suffering a stroke with severe aphasia, my husband was transferred from RAH to Modbury Hospital for rehabilitation. The level of care and compassion shown to us both was astonishing. I say ‘astonishing’ because we had been through some very negative experiences in the private healthcare system. The allied healthcare team were truly collaborative. They worked together with my husband and I at all times, and answered my barrage of questions without a hint of condescension or impatience. The nurses were professional, hardworking and kind. They went out of their way to comfort me when they sensed that I was feeling low (despite the fact that I wasn’t their patient!) and made an effort to exchange light-hearted banter with all of the patients. I will never forget the kindness of Pratiksha in particular, a true gem of a human being. Natalie, (Nurse) Tiffany, Gary, and all those nurses whose names I didn’t catch – thank you, each and every one of you. The speech therapists – Jessica and Sarah – were amazing, and I am sure that they made a significant impact on the rate of my husband’s recovery. The gains he made in the last week, especially, seemed nothing short of miraculous to me. Tiffany, the occupational therapist, was upbeat, very helpful and 'gently honest', which I deeply appreciated. Lena, the social worker, was warm and empathetic and a paragon of organisation. The doctors – where do I begin… Doctors Farima, Arizu and Amber. I thank ‘God’ for you. Mat, the brilliant pharmacist, taught me more about my husband’s medications in 15 minutes of conversation than I have gleaned in the past 6 years of specialists’ appointments (my husband and I had lived and worked overseas for decades before returning to Australia). Even the housekeeping staff who delivered the meals were cheerful. Little things make a big difference when you feel like your world has come crashing down… To all Modbury Hospital staff in 3E – thank you from the bottom of my heart. My husband and I are indebted to you for life. Whenever I paid you a compliment, you would invariably say ‘I’m just doing my job’. Believe me, you did so much more than that."
"I came to you in December after losing my ability to walk over 3 days. Turns out, I had a neurological disorder that needed immediate intervention and a lot of follow up care. Your head emergency surgeon told me my pain was "psychosomatic" and when I protested, saying that I couldn't walk, he told me that "we all have to deal with life's difficulties". Your lead physio told me "it's probably just DOMS" and that I "definitely did not need follow up care", explicitly ignoring my doctor's diagnosis of a neurological disorder (and ignoring my neurological symptoms which you saw with your own eyes). Not only were both of you wrong, but your negligence has worsened my condition and delayed my recovery into rehab (I actually need to re-learn how to walk all over again, similar to if I'd had a stroke). I'm astounded that you're both senior staff. Not only that, but you sent me home vomiting and so nauseated that I could barely sit upright or breathe properly - a nurse wheeled me out and wished me "good luck". I had been vomiting for days. Over my 6 day stay, I was not once put on an IV drip and when I asked for my paper work you said no (This is illegal). I received my discharge papers from Modbury Hospital 3 months after I was discharged, and the neurologist I consulted privately outside your practice had to get them from you for me. No matter my experience in your hospital, I should never have left in WORSE condition than when I arrived. That's literally like, the exact opposite of what a hospital is for. If you're reading this, please just go to the RAH if you can because chances are, if your experience was like mine, you'll end up there anyway and receive the actual care you needed all along. It's July at the time of writing and my first day of rehab is the 31st."
"Upgraded, clean. Staff are nice helpful at most times. Volunteers are always so nice and helpful with directions. Cafe on ground floor near main entrance stocks the essential gifts for last minute presents while visiting stay in patients. Patient Drop off zone at front of hospital for convenience. Several Disability Car park spots available within ticket parking facilities. Free for the first 2 hours is great, pay at auto station before exiting."
"I had the pleasure of dining at an amazing restaurant recently. From the moment I walked in, I was taken back by the cleanliness and the friendly staff. They had a great selection of vegan options, which made me very happy. The food was absolutely incredible – the flavors were spot on and the presentation was perfect. The waiters were very helpful and attentive. My food was made quickly and the staff made sure I was taken care of. When I left, they even said goodbye and thanked me for coming. This restaurant is definitely a must-visit if you're looking for a great experience!"
