"Room and location was great stayed at South Thomson.. recently renovated but you need coffee/tea ect room only comes with 4 towels 2 soaps and 2 toilet rolls so bring your own. Biggest downfall was RIA service.. nothing on website to say 9am checkout until after you book... Most places are atleast 11am (discovery/samphire), when I asked at the desk if I could have a later checkout at 10am because it was expected to be raining on our checkout date and our ferry was at 11.30 was told no sorry but U can pay $85 and extend your checkout time till 4pm.. I asked can I pay for just the 1hr till 10am and was told yeah that's will still be $85."
"Western Australia is so lucky that residents can book such excellent accommodation at such a good price. Remember the history pay respect to the past and live in the present."
"As a whole the place is stunning! Yeah it's overpriced and pretty basic but the beaches are beautiful, uncrowded and riding around is safe and a lot of fun. The check in process needs an overhaul, we arrived at 11am and attempted to check in early, ambitious but worth a shot. Mainly just to drop gear and change into more suitable clothing. Was told room wasn't ready. Fair enough, they would text us when it was. We rode out to our Longreach accommodation anyway, our suitcase was there in the rain and shopping inside the unit. The unit was ready but no text message which was annoying. So after a visit to friends at Geordie bay we headed back into town to check-in. 1.30pm now but we're told still not ready which we knew was a blatant lie. Told they would text when it's ready or come back at 2pm. At 1.58pm received a text that it was ready. My advice, just tell people no check in before 2pm. That way we aren't hanging around hoping and waiting. Also check out is strictly 9am and you are required to give the room a basic clean. Luggage needs to be out by 8am also. We love rotto but as it's exclusively government run with no outside competition the service is lacking and they really can just get away with it"
"I am posting this to inform people when they book with RIA accommodations so you have an easier time and know what to expect. Check out time for all accommodations under RIA is 9am and you have to have your luggage packed and outside to be picked up at 8am. You don't find this out until after you have booked your accommodations. You can not check in until 2pm and the check in point is not near your accommodations (depending on where you are staying). When they deliver your luggage it is left outside lying on the road in the sand not upright by the door. The luggage is unattended until you arrive so don't leave expensive items in there (in case of theft or damage) and if hot weather items like cosmetics that would melt. There was no air conditioning in the accommodation where we stayed and you can't get any Wi-Fi so have to use hot spot. There are no supplies left in the kitchen such as small long life milk, tea, coffee, sugar or salt and pepper, cooking oil and no tissues etc. You clean the accommodation and take out rubbish before you leave. The accommodation we had was refurbished and was very nice lots of room, new TV, comfy beds, big bathroom and great kitchen. IGA offers free food delivery for guests on the island which was also great. There have two times for delivery during the day. Unfortunately we couldn't really enjoy the accommodation for very long not worth it if staying only one night as early luggage pick up and early check out and cleaners came before 9am. You can drop off the key later in the day though. The customer service was good considering that they were extremely busy."
"It was comfortable and the heater was dynamic (it was summerlike). The kitchen was fully equipped and it was obvious to us that the staff prided themselves on ensuring the cooking utensils and facilities were available. The hot water worked. The fridge was clean. The kitchen was great. Unfortunately the lounge chair was average. I wasn't able to relax, but I did love the heater. We ended up just sitting in the bedroom. The bed was very comfy but sloped, it was also quite bouncy and I ended up having a fall a couple of times and I would go to sit down and bounce right back up again. The sheets were very clean which is key, most important part for me. The bathroom was set up for a person with a disability which was very good. The floor in the bathroom needs a bit of TLC though. There is a lot to love about this place, but for me it was a bit rough. We weren't unhappy though. Please provide tea, coffee, sugar sachets and a small milk to the rooms. Rottnest Island is very windy and people just want to have a nice cuppa when they get to their room. A great weekend. It's definately worth a visit to the Island."
