"Just stumbled upon this bar/pub/cafe for a drink and then realised this was more than that. We ordered the stone grilled steak which was an amazing experience where you cook it yourself on a hot stone! Our other meal was the cauliflower quinoa salad and was to die for. Highly recommend!"
"Sunday 15th January I booked a table for 6 people at 5pm the earliest we could book for dinner as we had booked to see Hairspray at the Festival Theatre that started at 6.30pm. We arrived and it wasn't too busy but by 5.10 when we went to order our food there was a very long line as other had obviously arrived as they also were going to the show. There was only one girl taking orders for food by the time I had ordered it was 5.27pm. We ordered a serve of garlic bread and trio of dips to start we waited patiently and at 6pm we managed to grab the attention of the manger who was dealing with other complaints she advised that our order would now all come out together as i was ready to cancel our starters. At 6.05pm our starters arrived and 6.10 the two salads arrive at this point I knew we were not going to make the show I also have a 29 week pregnant lady in my party who needed to eat. I advised my table to eat the salads between them and I would go and cancel the mains. Whilst I was canceling the mains the pork dish arrived at which we sent back the other three meals were cook your own steaks they never made it to the table. The manager apologized and was clearly under stress as there were others waiting for a refund. I was only refunded for the pork meal and three steaks and didn't have time to question as I feel we should have been refunded for the whole meal as the 6 off us had to basically share and scoff it down! A member of my party had to go to the newsagents and get some snacks. This hotel is a place when many people go to have a preshow meal and the Strathmore have been doing this for years so I don't understand how they got it so wrong. At not one point when I ordered was I told there was a delay in the food coming out. We are all so very disappointed and will not be returning or recommending!!"
"Had dinner here before a show - a busy noisy place, staff were friendly and meals came quickly. Servings were generous but my schnitzel was a little dry."
"I find the place rustic, modern and a great place to dine. But I do not enjoy the food. Stone grill is a good concept but chicken was not pre seasoned before serving therefore leaving the meat tasting bland. The salmon special was a disappointment as I was really expecting a bigger potion or perhaps a bigger plate to make it look worth $28. Coconut milk does not go well with capers and so I found out today. And please make sure the rockets are bite size sizes as I almost choked eating them. Salmon was not fully cooked and only seasoned skin side. Overall, good place and I will come back for more."
