"Worst childcare staff. Went to pick up my child and educator Educator handed me the leggings full of poo , so I can get it clean after I go home from my work. You go to pick up your kid, no body know, where the child’s socks are, nobody knows where the kid’s water bottle is, nobody knows where the shoes are. So Treasure hunt for your kids belongings start as you enter in. And if you ask educators they will mostly response, ooh kid only came down from upstairs so I don’t know. Nobody knows here nothing. I went to pick up my kid, educator sitting in the corner and was so busy on phone not even noticed parent is here to pick up kid. You can only trust these educators only if you do not care about your Children, that’s it."
"My daughter is very well cared by the team, most educator are very kind and accommodative. Thank you Belinda and Lahn (and other educators) for being very patient with my daughter, they worked really hard to ensure my daughter settles in."
"**Pros** - Centre is really well designed for the safety and security of the children, while also providing ample space for them to enjoy many well thought-out activities. - Menu changes regularly and parent feedback and suggestions are encouraged. - Feedback is usually taken on board and as a parent you do feel listened to. - Photo updates throughout the day and the updates through the app are fantastic. - The administration and app integration are flawless (compared to other day-cares in our experience anyway). - It's difficult to tell, but some staff do seem to have their performance reflected with pay increases, which is very important to me given the massive role day care workers play in women's equality, freedom for parents to progress their careers (or other areas of interest), and in society as a whole. A day care that looks after it's staff is a day care with the right priorities. This brings me to the last point ... - Staff are people too. When we started taking our son to Genius Corinda there was a great mix of personalities (there still is), however the high staff turn over has been incredibly concerning and disappointing - I have a suspicion this has been a learning curve for the franchise manager (different from the branch manager - who has sadly since also left), who is now hopefully paying more attention to the people they hire and their overall job satisfaction (and appropriate remuneration). **Cons** Disclaimer: Due to the aforementioned high staff turnover rate, none of these cons are necessarily individual issues, but rather a reflection of the problem at large - being staff retention. I believe the centre is working on the improvement of this issue, and so it is my hope that the following problems no longer occur. - On more than one occasion my son's water bottle was totally empty upon picking him up. He subsequently drinks like a fish afterwards, leading me to believe he didn't have access to water prior. - Being in southern Queensland, the weather can go from being mildly cold to very hot pretty quickly in the mornings, occasionally we have dropped our boy off in a jumper and picked him up at the end of the day with the jumper still on despite him being covered in sweat underneath. - I have noticed an increase in behavioural issues since he has attended care (this has been the same when attending the previous day care also, so not necessarily a reflection of this specific business). He is more aggressive and extremely emotional/overwhelmed after coming home from care in the afternoons - almost like he is letting everything out that he was not comfortable to show when he was there. I have not noticed any good behaviours or positive influences come from his two days a week there. - The sheer amount of illnesses and stomach bugs our 22 month old has picked up in the last 6 months of attendance is a big factor in our decision to remove him for now. He is a healthy and large boy, but some of the sicknesses he has contracted have knocked him (and both my husband and I as well as anyone we have come into contact with) out for weeks. Luckily I don't have to work full time, but the amount of days off I have had to take to care for him would more than justify my employment ceasing to be. - A personal observation: Daycare is not a replacement for parenting. The kids in his age group (1-2) never look happy when I arrive, they look lost - like dogs waiting for their masters to come home. In all his photos he is never smiling. This differs between ages however. In the 3 and upwards groups the kids do seem really happy to be there, being more independent and curious I suppose. So in our case it is a better idea to try again when he is older, or possibly utilise a casual arrangement where the care is only when we require it and not on a regular basis. We would still continue to use this daycare in this case. - I dislike the sentiment of the daycare being a "Genius family". Family implies unconditional love and support. This is a business, providing services for money. The two should never be confused."
"Such a well presented day care, the staff are very welcoming and always polite and helpful and the manager K does an excellent job of keeping parents up to date with what's happening at the centre and always greets me with a positive attitude, the staff always updating us on our child's daily routines and I'd definitely recommend this child care to anyone in the area looking to enroll there child."
"We absolutely love Genius Corinda. The team are so great and give my little one the best care, she adores her friends and educators and all the fun activities they prepare for her. I have peace of mind that my little one is cared for while I'm working and bonus is all the activities are teaching her those skills she needs to aquire."
