Redcliffe Show Society Scarborough Road, Redcliffe, Queensland 4020
About the Business
Welcome to the Redcliffe Show Society, a must-visit establishment located in the picturesque suburb of Redcliffe, Australia. Situated on Scarborough Road, this historical institution has a rich history dating back to its establishment in 1906.
Originally built as a cricket ground, the Redcliffe Showgrounds have evolved into a vibrant hub for community events and entertainment. Interestingly, despite its cricket origins, no game of cricket has ever taken place on these grounds. Instead, the grounds have become synonymous with the annual "Humpybong Show," which first ran in 1923 under the management of the Redcliffe Council.
The early days of the Humpybong Show were more akin to a delightful picnic than a traditional show. Visitors would eagerly participate in cooking contests, compete in "Cutest Baby" competitions, and engage in thrilling egg and spoon races, 100-yard sprints, and three-legged races. However, the outbreak of World War II in 1939 brought a halt to this beloved event.
Fortunately, in 1949, Alderman C.A Webb formed a new committee, and the Redcliffe Show made its triumphant return in 1950. Since then, it has become a cherished annual tradition, attracting locals and visitors alike to experience the excitement and festivities it offers.
By obtaining a ticket to the Redcliffe Show, you not only gain access to a memorable event but also signify your agreement to the terms and conditions of entry. To ensure a hassle-free experience, we encourage you to purchase your tickets in advance through our website. This not only saves you time but also guarantees your spot at this highly anticipated event.
Please note that there will be no cash out available at the gate. However, rest assured that conveniently located ATMs within the showgrounds will cater to your financial needs.
Join us at the Redcliffe Show Society and immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere of this beloved institution. Experience the thrill of traditional competitions, indulge in delicious food, explore exciting exhibits, and create lasting memories with your loved ones. "Fun and enjoyable. Excellent show with local exhibits. The security was fantastic assisting my wheelchair bound wife."
"When open its a great place, June caretaker is a lovely lady that cares for he clients."
"We had a really lovely first visit to the Redcliffe Show today. Went with a friend and our 2 & 8 year olds and just had a good wholesome day out. Lots of little treasures - we all enjoyed seeing wool being spun, finding the queen bee in the hive, the petting zoo, puppet show, piglet races, bike jumping, wood carving. Every area had people working and available to chat to. And sideshow alley before we left:-) I like the small scale for young kids. We went on bargain Friday - I probably wouldn’t have been quite so taken if we’d paid weekend fees. Not great ‘real’ food options. Unless you’re happy to eat fairground junk all day I’d take your own."
"Music practice for those that like country music and want to learn stage craft with the aid of band most Wednesday nights in Dalton hall in showgrounds the caravan park is peaceful"
"i love the ion markets here on the weekend, they always have great little gatherings, events and even host the redcliffe circuis once a year. The parking is always ample and when something large is on they even open the opposite field for more space! defiantly a family friendly, kid friendly place to spend your weekends or next big outing."
