"I have been a patient on four seperate occasions. The BCPND unit is a wonderful place to go with kind, caring nurses. That's it. Absolutely rude nurses on open wards, psychiatrists minimising your trauma, needing to change rooms FOUR times during a 2.5 week stay and then when you have the guts to ask for a different psychiatrist for personal reason's, it seems Belmont just wipes you! There is constantly arguments between management and the smokers which ends up involving people who aren't even a part of it! Multiple people bringing cannibis into the hospital grounds smoking in the dark corners, nurses giving such wrong advice and scare tactics by saying if I don't stop crying, child welfare will take my child (staff have no idea how to deal with complex legal situations but still feel that they must be certified to give court advice). Having to talk to the police in the carpark in front of everyone multiple times because staff were too lazy to provide a private place. Belmont has done more harm and damaged my trust in the mental health system then they have done good. I wouldn't send the person I hated the most to this place"
"I am a current patient and my psychiatrist has not responded for 2 weeks now after me leaving 3 voicemails saying I need help urgently. My mental health has dramatically declined and nobody has returned my calls. No follow ups. Nothing. I feel like nobody cares."
"For any mum that's considering coming here with postnatal depression/anxiety: just do it! This place is amazing, I got so much out of here. Any new parents know about the sleepless nights with a newborn... well this place has an overnight nursery, so as a new mum, you're able to get a full night's sleep!! The psychology and nursing team are very supportive and highly experienced, I think this place is not a hospital, it's a hotel for mothers and babies!"
"The mother and baby unit at the Brisbane Centre for Postnatal Disorders is amazing. The nurses, psychiatrists and psychologists are very caring and professional. The group therapy program and individual sessions are very good and finally let me get to the bottom of things after years of therapy. I recommend this place to anyone going through postnatal depression or anxiety. Don't be afraid to leave your baby with the nurses over night, they are very loving and experienced. It is also helpful to be able to connect with other mothers who are going through the same thing."
"Look, it’s a mental hospital and they are never fun places. Belmont staff for the most are very caring and attentive and if there's an issue, there's a clear path to have it resolved. I have personally experience with the staff and doctors and I literally owe them my life. Having a great doctor that communicated well with me made all the difference. I also liked the food and the facilities… but you know.. it’s a hospital. It’s not going to please everyone. The special thing about Belmont however is the support you get from other patients. It’s large enough place that it’s possible to form a good group of people that you can connect with, which was, as it turns out important for me and my specific journey."
