About the Business
Welcome to Camp Mountain, located in the breathtaking D'Aguilar National Park, just a stone's throw away from Brisbane. As a beloved family camping destination, this establishment offers a truly inspiring experience amidst the stunning natural beauty of Queensland's Moreton Bay Region.
For those seeking an adventure with their closest friends, we have a range of exhilarating hikes that will leave you in awe. Embark on a steep walk through the forest and be rewarded with breathtaking views over Brisbane and beyond. At Camp Mountain, there are two lookout points that offer different perspectives of the surrounding landscapes. One lookout provides fabulous views over Samford Valley, the Glass House Mountains, and even out to Moreton Bay. The other lookout showcases a captivating vista of Brisbane's iconic skyline.
As you make your way through the forest, you will come across a serene picnic area nestled among towering eucalypt trees. This site holds historical significance as it was once used by gold prospectors during the Enoggera goldfields era. If you're feeling adventurous, venture further into the forest on foot, horse, or mountain bike along a shared trail. The trail includes a dedicated horseriding path, which can be accessed just 20 meters to the left of the Bathersby lookout platform.
While exploring the park, keep your ears open for the distinctive call of Lewin's honeyeaters, which can be heard as a rhythmic 'chak-ak-ak-ak-ak'. During winter, you'll also be treated to the sight of white blooms adorning the tallowwood trees, enticing grey-headed flying foxes, scaly-breasted lorikeets, and squirrel gliders with their nectar-filled blossoms.
Camp Mountain lookout is situated in the South D'Aguilar section of D'Aguilar National Park, a convenient 20 kilometers away from Brisbane's bustling city center. Before your visit, make sure to check park alerts for any updates on access, closures, and conditions. To ensure the safety of all visitors, please refrain from parking in front of access gates, as emergency services require unrestricted access at all times.
By visiting Camp Mountain, you will not only be immersing yourself in the beauty of nature but also contributing to the vital work being done to protect and expand Queensland's protected area system. "Nice relaxing lookout & track Enjoy the cool air in summer !"
"Beautiful views of the city! Thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Plenty of picnic tables and clean loos. Barbecues also and some bike tracks. Great scenery and lovely bird noises! Best spot for tourists."
"A fantastic hidden lookout with some great places to setup a picnic. Not too crowded and there is plenty of room to find a peaceful, undisturbed place to relax. The road up isn’t in the best state but it’s not too long and is easy to make up in any car or bike."
"Great place to see the city of Brisbane. BBQ facilities, tables, toilets and plenty of parking."
"Lovely and quite place. Has a parking for about 15 cars. Open fire BBQ. You could find some wood around for the BBQ, but often it isn't dry - better bring your own wood or coal. Clean and fresh air. Awesome place to spend time with friends and/or kids. Excellent place to have a great walk. No rubbish bins, so you need to take your waste with you. No drinking water available - don't forget to bring your own. Toilets are a bit dirty. There is recycled water at the toilets."
