"Staff great, very pleasant, and doubtless some products ok, but my dining table and six faux suede chairs ... terrible design and awful build quality (manufacture—nothing fitted very well) and material (wood) rubbish. But well out of a miserably short warranty (you'd think the warranty on a table and chairs—excluding the chairs' soft fabric—would be forever, like the dining suite I grew up with. How do they wear out?) Anyway, I had felt pads on all legs for my wooden floor but when I slid back on one chair, the front legs just broke away and I got dumped backwards in a slow arc to the floor. They were good about that (but my six-seater became a five-seater). I reinforced the remaining front legs with metal bands (see photo). Later (recently) a friend made the mistake of leaning on the chairback (how stupid!—but, hang on, what's the chairback for?) It cracked then broke. Now to the table: the 'serrated inserts' (or 'socket nuts') embedded in the legs just do not grip. As you tighten (not overtighten) the screws/bolts, the inserts just pull out so you cannot tighten the legs. (Note, both table and chairs needed regular tightening). How long is an Amart table supposed to last? I am attempting to glue the inserts in (see photo). Haven't been back to Amart as I doubt they'll take the whole rubbish set back (because they should never have sold it). Even if stuff is relatively cheap, it shouldn't break in normal use (it should be 'fit for the purpose intended' and 'of merchantable quality'. What a joke—it was neither). Oh, and I had to swap the original table straightaway—it had horrid flaws pitted deep into its surface. So ... a. Dreadful design b. Awful manufacture (fit) c. Rubbish material (wood fittings) c. Non-existent quality control. Photos. 1. Unreinforced chair leg 2. Label under chair 3. Attempt to stick embedded table leg nuts so screws can tighten. 4. Reinforced chair front (but back broke). 5. Ill-fated chair (one of the four from six left). 6. Attempt to glue leg as screws useless (see update below). We all know stuff isn't made like it was but really, this was just too bad. (I've got new chairs but am 'stuck' with the table. Work in progress!) Update: Nope, screw inserts wouldn't hold. See added photo, new method being tried: wood glue added and leg in situ (the only way to keep it in the right position while the glue sets). Weighed down by cast iron pot full of water. Amart—what a table (and chairs, now binned) to sell! 'Caveat emptor' (yes, be VERY beware)."
"Bought online, item was ready for pickup really quick, easy location to collect items from. The two guys at dispatch were very helpful and took great care when loading items in my vehicle. Highly recommend."
"Had a very pleasant experience when buying a new dining table. Constant, efficient communication with staff that exceeded my expectations with making sure the table was the right finish, quality and size. Would shop there again in a heartbeat."
"After sales care is very bad. Product care/insurance product is completely useless. Fabric two and three seater couches we bought started pilling within two weeks of them arriving. They said it was normal to do this at the start and to buy a pilling remover and deal with it. Which we did but since then I had to shave the fabric with the machine four times in less than three years. Not acceptable. My previous couches of 15 years did not do this once. And they were also fabric not leather or microfiber."
"Absolutely horrid worksmanship on the San Lucas outdoor table setting. Bought this set back at the end of 2022. Its now march 2023 and the table laminate is peeling, the chair legs aren’t level and the cushions are degrading. The customer service has stated that this is not a fault of the table so is not covered by their quality guarantee… Wouldn’t recommend this product or any of Amarts products. I have raised this for repair and replacement as per their quality guarantee but was declined. Will be raising further. Stay away. Stick to harvey norman. Much better quality and service."
