About the Business
Welcome to Australian Opal Jewellery, located at 201b Lutwyche Road in Windsor, Australia. We are a unique institution that combines the elements of an establishment, jewelry store, museum, point of interest, store, and tourist attraction all in one.
At Australian Opal Jewellery, we pride ourselves on offering only 100% natural solid opals from Australia. We do not deal with doublets, triplets, treated, or synthetic opals. Our commitment to quality is reflected in our unconditional return policy, ensuring that you are completely satisfied with your purchase.
If you're looking to celebrate a special occasion, there's no better way than with a 100% natural Australian solid opal. These gemstones are nature's most amazing and compelling creations, and we offer a wide range of contemporary settings expertly crafted by our opal jewellery master. Our pieces are designed to be enjoyed now and for many decades to come.
Whether you visit our physical shop or browse our online collection, you will find the largest assortment of solid opal jewellery in Brisbane. We personally cut, shape, design, and set each piece, ensuring that you receive a truly unique and stunning creation. To give you a better idea of the size and how our jewellery looks when worn, we model all of our pieces. You can even watch a sample video of Kerin modelling an item on our website.
With years of experience in dealing with opal jewellery and unset opals, we have served both international tourists and locals. We understand what our customers want and go the extra mile to help you find the perfect piece. Our dedication to customer satisfaction is what sets us apart.
In 2009, we opened a small Opal Museum next to our jewellery shop. Over the years, with the support of our jewellery shop sales, the museum has grown into a special attraction with an impressive collection. This year, we made the decision to transition the Opal Museum into a Not-for-Profit Organization called the "Museum of Australian Opals." We believe this will allow the museum to continue growing into an incredible experience for visitors. You can visit the Opal Museum website for more information.
When it comes to sourcing opals, we ensure that we offer the best quality, 100% natural (solid) opals at a fair price. Our opal rough comes from various opal miners in Queensland and Lightning Ridge. We take pride in our extensive opal collection, which represents opal fields from all across Australia.
As a VIP member, you can enjoy a 5% discount on any item at any time. We value our customers and want to show our appreciation for your continued support.
We have had the pleasure of serving customers from all around the world. Amanda and her husband found a beautiful double-sided black opal as an eternity ring. Gary and Becky from the USA selected a natural matrix opal slide and a raw matrix specimen for their collection. The gentleman from Brisbane chose a stunning solid boulder opal pendant for his wife. Erich, a doctor from Germany, purchased solid black opal earrings for his wife while attending a conference in Brisbane. Karenia, another doctor from Germany, selected a beautiful pair of boulder opal gold earrings for herself. Susan treated herself to a magical boulder opal pendant and a loose blue opal that she plans to turn into a ring. Ana chose a solid opal pendant in silver for her mother-in-law, while Vicky from England and her daughter spent hours in our museum before each buying an opal. Kelvin bought a boulder opal pendant as a birthday gift for Sonny.
When it comes to our jewellery, we strive for perfection. Each item is positioned to showcase the opal's color, and it must have at least one compelling feature, whether it be a unique pattern, vibrant color, or exceptional brightness. Rest assured that all our jewellery is 100% natural, with no doublets, triplets, treated, or synthetic opals.
Before making any opal purchase, there are seven important things you should know. We encourage you to educate yourself and make an informed decision.

"My friend and I had a wonderful experience picking out a ring, earrings, and necklace pendant at this jewelry store. Susie was so kind, helpful, and attentive while we navigated through all the jewelry pieces they had available. I will never forget Susie and her charm."
"The team are amazing and service is 5 star. I have purchased beautiful opal earrings and a stone which I had made into a pendant. I also found opal and had it made into a pendant. 5 star service."
"I was looking at opals for quite a while and was difficult to find something unique. Australian Opal Jewellery had a lovely opal shell fossil pendant. Its polished beautifully & still has the natural shape of the fossil. The quality is stunning and they included a beautiful necklace with the pendant & a custom handmade wooden jewellery box. There was even a little polish cloth included. Their customer service is amazing, you can tell the people at Australian Opal Jewellery are very passionate and knowledgable. I can't wait for interstate travel borders to open so I come & visit the store/ museum. I look forward to doing business these guys again soon!"
"I am very very happy with the opal I received from them!!! I searched online for a place to buy quality black opal and am so lucky I found the Brisbane Opal Museum site and the Opal Jewelry!!! The owner was very helpful and always responded to my emails very quickly!!! They are a wealth of great information and have intense knowledge of Australian opals! I will definitely tell others about the opals and hopefully soon will be buying another bigger one for myself!!! If you need info or want a great piece of opal jewelry you need to check them out!!! July 8 2019, just received two more rings and am extremely happy!!! Thank you!!!"
"Excellent customer service from start to finish with great communication, and very educational of the pieces you see online with the videos. Geoff is also open to additional questions via email. I like that he only sells solid opals, so you know you’re getting value for your money, and he has a great return policy if you’re not satisfied, so no worries, but who would want to return. The piece I bought was even more beautiful in person than in the photos or video. My piece shows a lot of reds, and for me I prefer the flashes and rolls of the color versus a boulder opal that has more of a solid picture like pattern that looks more permanent. Very happy. I will shop there again. I already have my eye on a few other pieces."
