About the Business
Welcome to Golden Circle, located at Northgate, Earnshaw Road, 260. As an establishment, food, grocery or supermarket, point of interest, and store, we are proud to offer a wide range of quality products to our valued customers.
At Golden Circle, we believe in celebrating our rich history and the joy our brand brings to people's lives. That's why we have commissioned the beautiful mural, 'Made From Sunshine,' to commemorate our 75th anniversary. This vibrant artwork captures the nostalgic memories of children's parties, where Golden Circle products were always a highlight on the table. The centerpiece of the mural is, of course, the iconic pineapple, symbolizing our commitment to delivering delicious and wholesome products.
The mural was created by the talented artist Lexie Abel, who was inspired by the warm and friendly atmosphere she experienced while painting at our factory. She was struck by the stories of our dedicated staff, who shared their personal journeys and the pride they take in being part of the Golden Circle family. In fact, many of our staff even participated in the creation of the mural through a paint by numbers component, making it a truly collaborative and representative artwork.
It is important to note that this mural is a collaboration between Lexie Abel, the Manimba-ja artist collective, and the Jagera traditional owners. We have upheld the cultural protocols and made a commitment to reciprocity and relationship building with the Jagera people and First Nations artists working on their country. This ensures that the artwork respects and honors the Indigenous culture and heritage of the land.
Lexie Abel, a Wiradjuri descendant, brings her unique perspective and artistic style to the mural. Her emotive art reflects on personal stories and connections to place, borrowing elements from her weaving, mark making, and textile art practice. The result is a playful use of color and shape, combined with intricate textures and patterns.
The Manimba-ja artist collective, based in Maleny on the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, is an Indigenous-run consultancy, art gallery, shopfront, and yarning place. With a strong focus on promoting contemporary urban Aboriginal art, they work closely with local Aboriginal voices to create and present critical work. Founders Bj Murphy and Libby Harward are deeply committed to cultural protocol and integrity, ensuring that Indigenous art and community work are approached with the utmost respect and standard of practice.
At Golden Circle, we are not just a supermarket. We are a place where history, art, and community come together. We invite you to explore our store, experience the joy of our mural, and become part of the Golden Circle family.
