Dr. Thomas Philip, the founder of our institution, is a highly accomplished veterinarian with a wealth of experience and expertise. He graduated with first-class honors from the University of Queensland, School of Veterinary Science in 1984. After working in rural practice for three years, he pursued further specialization in Theriogenology at the University of Florida, completing a residency in 1990. In 1995, he earned his PhD from Cornell University, focusing on Equine reproduction and studying the interactions between spermatozoa and the oviduct epithelium.
Dr. Philip holds specialist status in Australia, New Zealand, and the United States, having fulfilled the requirements and examinations for Diplomate of the American College of Theriogenology in 1989 and Fellowship of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists in Canine Reproduction in 1992. He has not only taught reproduction to veterinary students in Australia but has also published numerous scientific articles, book chapters, reviews, and case reports. Dr. Philip's greatest achievement in reproduction, however, is his contribution to the birth of his own children, Hilary and Edward. Currently, he serves as a Specialist in Reproduction at Queensland Veterinary Specialists, ensuring the highest level of care for our furry friends.
Joining Dr. Philip is Dr. Tania, a veterinarian who graduated with honors from Murdoch University in 1991. She further honed her skills through a two-year internship in Radiology and a two-year Small Animal Medicine Internship, both at Murdoch University. Driven by her interest in soft tissue imaging and internal medicine cases, especially sonography, she became a Member of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in Canine Medicine in 1997. Dr. Tania has also played a crucial role in establishing the Pet Emergency Room at Stafford Heights. When she's not mentoring the emergency staff, she enjoys spending time with her three griffons, three chooks, and two children. She has recently discovered the joy of open water ocean swimming, adding to her love for swimming.
Another esteemed member of our team is Dr. Xavier, who graduated as a veterinarian from the University of Queensland. His veterinary career initially focused on Equine and Bovine Reproduction in Northern Australia before returning to Brisbane. He then completed a rotating internship in Equine surgery, medicine, and reproduction at The University of Queensland Equine Specialist Hospital. Dr. Xavier's dedication to specialization led him to complete a residency in Theriogenology, earning him the title of Diplomate of the American College of Theriogenologists. He is also a Member of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists and a Registered Specialist in Reproduction at Queensland Veterinary Specialists. Dr. Xavier's clinical interests lie in canine, equine, and bovine reproduction, medicine, and surgery. As a lecturer with the Faculty of Science at The University of Queensland, he also contributes to the education of future veterinarians.
Lastly, we have Dr. Jodilee Penn, a passionate veterinarian who graduated from the University of Queensland in 2005.
