At Safe Place Therapy, we understand the importance of affordable and accessible mental health care. That's why we participate in the Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP), which allows General Practitioners (GPs) to refer clients to us at reduced counselling rates through Medicare. To obtain a MHCP, we recommend booking a double session with your regular GP, ensuring sufficient time to discuss your concerns. Your GP will then provide a referral to see one of our qualified Mental Health Social Workers or Psychologists under this plan. If you specifically wish to see Prue Gilligan or Stuart Cheverton, please communicate this request to your GP so they can address the referral accordingly.

During your appointment with the GP, they will ask specific questions related to your overall mental health and may use a scaling questionnaire. It is important to be honest and upfront about your thoughts and feelings, even though it may feel challenging to put them into words or assign a numerical value. This is an opportunity to raise any concerns you have about your mental health and discuss any symptoms or issues you may be experiencing.
