Welcome to the Amberley Driver Reviver Rest Area, located at Purga, Cunningham Highway, 2487. As an establishment that focuses on providing food, points of interest, and a store, we aim to create a comfortable and convenient stop for motorists on their journeys.

Rest areas are always available for you to stop and recover at any time. It is important to plan ahead and determine which rest areas and driver sites you will stop at during your trip. If you are driving a long distance on Queensland roads, we strongly encourage you to take a break every 2 hours for at least 15 minutes. Our driver reviver site, as well as other rest areas throughout the state, are ideal locations for this purpose.

The Department of Transport and Main Roads has collaborated closely with council and community representatives across Queensland to transition our managed driver reviver sites to be led at a local level. While complimentary refreshments will no longer be offered at rest areas as part of the national driver reviver program, these sites will remain open as rest areas for all motorists to manage fatigue. Alternatively, you can also find a local shop, cafe, or service station to take a break.

Driver Reviver Australia is a national volunteer-led program that operates at over 180 sites across the country. Although Transport and Main Roads will no longer manage driver reviver sites, Driver Reviver Australia will continue to operate all other sites in Queensland. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the volunteers for their dedication and commitment over the past 30 years. Taking regular breaks at rest areas while driving is crucial in reducing fatigue-related deaths on our roads and in our communities.

It is important to note that much of our owned driver reviver infrastructure across the state is not safe, and the cost of repairs and ongoing maintenance is not feasible. Therefore, after stakeholder consultation, the driver reviver program will no longer operate at the sites listed in the table provided. Additionally, you can download all the driver reviver GPS locations for your journey to ensure a safe and enjoyable drive.
