About the Business
Welcome to the Community Legal Centre in Strathpine, Australia. As an establishment and point of interest, our institution is dedicated to providing support and advocacy for vulnerable clients and communities facing legal problems. Located on Gympie Road, our centre is easily accessible for those in need of free information, legal assistance, and referral services.
At Community Legal Centres Queensland, we prioritize the safety and well-being of First Nations peoples. As the nation approaches the 2023 referendum, we believe it is crucial to prioritize their holistic safety inside and outside of the workplace. In our special webinar, "Voice 2023: Supporting your Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees, colleagues, and friends through the Referendum," attendees will have the opportunity to hear from experts in the field and gain valuable insights.
In addition to our commitment to First Nations peoples, we are actively engaged in the National Legal Assistance Partnership Review. The release of the Issues Paper has sparked discussions and invited submissions on various key areas related to the current NLAP and possible future arrangements. We encourage individuals and organizations to contribute their perspectives and evidence to help shape the future of legal assistance in Australia.
To ensure that we continually improve our services, our staff and management committee have reviewed and refreshed our organisation's Strategic Plan for the current financial year. This plan outlines our three main objectives: working with Queensland community legal centres to enhance organisational sustainability and service quality, promoting access to justice for all, and advocating for systemic change to address legal issues in our society.
We are proud to support the YES campaign on the Voice to Parliament. After careful consideration and consultation with our First Nations reference group and colleagues, we believe in the importance of amplifying the voices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We recognize and respect their diversity and commit to fostering a culture of learning and collaboration in the spirit of reconciliation.
At Community Legal Centres Queensland, we are driven by real-life stories of individuals seeking justice. For example, Tiana* and her mother, survivors of domestic and family violence, found support and guidance through our services. We also assisted Betty*, who was pressured into signing a costly funeral plan while emotionally vulnerable. Additionally, Sonya*, a young Aboriginal woman, received the help she needed after experiencing assault and the loss of her children.
By subscribing to our newsletter, you can stay up to date with the latest news and developments from our centre. We are proud to be part of a network of 32 independent, community legal centres operating throughout Queensland. Our centres provide crucial services such as representation, casework, community education, and advocacy to ensure that vulnerable clients and communities have access to justice.
As we operate on the traditional lands of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, we pay our deepest respect to their custodianship and acknowledge their ongoing connection to the land, water, and culture. We honor the stories, traditions, and living cultures of First Nations peoples and commit to fostering a culture of learning and collaboration. We recognize the importance of reconciliation and strive for equal access to justice for all.
