Welcome to Takemusu Aikido Kai - Redlands Dojo! Located in the charming old Memorial Hall on Smith Street, Cleveland, our institution offers a unique and enriching experience in the graceful Japanese martial art of Aikido.

Led by Michael, a 7th Dan Shihan and the head of both Moorooka and Redlands branches, our dojo is dedicated to helping students purify their minds, bodies, and spirits through the practice of Aikido. With a wealth of experience, Michael guides his students to be more focused and present in their bodies, using Aikido as a tool to foster personal growth and expansion.

John, a Level 1 MAIA accredited Aikido instructor since 2019, has been practicing Aikido since 2010 and has worked closely with Michael Pyers Shihan to develop the Takemusu Aikido Kai Australian syllabus. Together, they ensure that our students receive the highest quality instruction and guidance.

Aikido is a martial art that aims to restore harmony in conflict situations without relying on physical strength. It is suitable for people of all ages and offers numerous benefits, including positive energy, self-defense skills, empowerment, and inner calm. In our classes, students learn to avoid attacks, maintain balance, and use the attacker's energy against them. Through constant movement, defensive techniques, and safe falling practices, physical fitness is promoted.

At Takemusu Aikido Kai - Redlands Dojo, we provide instruction in a traditional manner within a safe, non-competitive learning environment. Our focus is on practicing dynamic self-defense techniques while fostering an atmosphere of friendship, mutual respect, and joy of training.

Please note that there are no junior classes held during school holidays. To make your training more convenient, we offer a 'pay as you go' card system, allowing flexibility in attendance. Our membership options, including annual and half-year memberships, provide additional benefits such as public liability insurance and sports insurance, as well as eligibility for promotions.
