Welcome to UQ Aikido, located at 25 Union Road, Saint Lucia, Australia. Our institution is an establishment that focuses on health and is a point of interest for Aikido enthusiasts. As an affiliated University of Queensland sports club, we take pride in being a member of the Aikido Kokikai family.

At UQ Aikido, we adhere to the teachings of our founder and president, Shuji Maruyama Sensei, who developed four principles that form the core of Kokikai Aikido. Guided by these principles, our Chief Instructor, Steve Henderson, who is a seasoned practitioner in Aikido Kokikai, ensures that our dojo provides a safe, friendly, and relaxed training environment.

Steve Sensei's dedication to his craft is evident in his regular attendance at annual camps and seminars with Maruyama Sensei and other Kokikai instructors from Australia and Japan. This commitment allows him to continuously enhance his skills and knowledge, which he then imparts to our students, enabling them to unlock their full potential in the study of Aikido.

Assisting Steve Sensei is Nathan Harvey, our Deputy Chief Instructor, who brings a wealth of experience in various martial arts styles. His expertise adds depth to our training sessions, ensuring a well-rounded approach to Aikido practice.

Additionally, we have a team of Junior Instructors consisting of Sophie, Angela, Sally, and Sarah. These dedicated individuals will warmly welcome you to our dojo and introduce you to Sensei. They are also readily available to assist you with training protocols and ensure your safety on the mats.
