We are proud to be a joint venture collaborative partnership between Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service (SCHHS), University of the Sunshine Coast, TAFE Queensland, and Griffith University. This partnership allows us to be a dedicated health education, training, and research facility, contributing to the SCHHS vision for health and wellbeing through exceptional care.

We are proud to announce that the Sunshine Coast Health Institute recently celebrated a medical milestone with the graduation of the first cohort of student doctors from Griffith University. These graduates are now ready to embark on the next chapter of their careers, equipped with the knowledge and skills gained from our institute.

We also host annual symposiums to showcase health innovation, research, and advances in our community. These symposiums provide an opportunity for healthcare professionals, students, and researchers to learn from the region's leading health practitioners. Our institute is proud to have hosted the annual Queensland Audit of Surgical Mortality (QASM) Seminar, bringing together local surgeons and delivering the event live online for surgeons across the region.

Our operating hours are Monday to Friday from 8am to 4pm, and on weekends by application.

We are honored to have Professor Robert Harvey as part of our team. With expertise in cell biology, neuroscience, and molecular genetics, Professor Harvey's research focuses on the biological roles of synaptic receptors, transporters, and accessory proteins in health and disease. At the Sunshine Coast Health Institute, he aims to investigate the molecular pathology of defects in inhibitory and excitatory synapses in individuals with autism, intellectual disability, and epilepsy, with funding from the NHMRC. His goal is to translate basic science discoveries into clinical applications, such as improved genetic diagnostics, patient care, and novel pharmacotherapies.
