Children Are... was born out of the experiences of Zach, who has worked closely with some of the most autistic individuals in Queensland. Through his work, Zach learned invaluable lessons that shaped his career and fueled his passion for helping parents and carers of difficult teens and tweens.

One particular encounter with a young client stands out in Zach's memory. This client would often cause issues during outings, pushing workers into the cinema and sitting in movies he hadn't paid for. His desire to see more films knew no bounds. However, one day, as Zach and the client were about to leave the cinema after watching Transformers for the 23rd time in two weeks, Zach noticed the client's intense fascination with drumming. In a moment of inspiration, Zach sat down and began drumming on his lap. The non-verbal boy's face lit up with excitement, and Zach realized that he had found a way to connect with him. This experience led to the idea of using drumming as a means of engagement and communication with struggling teens.

After years of working in residential care, Zach decided to put his knowledge and experience to the test in the real game of parenting. Living with an instant teen, Zach transformed his years of practice into a system that helps struggling parents and disconnected teens. Children Are... is the result of this journey, offering a range of resources and support for parents and carers who may feel overwhelmed by their teenager's behavior.
