About the Business
Welcome to Brisbane Independent School, located at Pinjarra Hills on Moggill Road. As an establishment and point of interest in Australia, we are proud to be a primary school that follows a Child-Centred Model at the core of our philosophy. This unique approach sets us apart from other schools and ensures that every choice we make is focused on the well-being and development of our students.
At Brisbane Independent School, our mission is to nurture, develop, and trust in our pupils' innate love of learning. We strive to produce graduates who are confident, competent, and respectful, equipping them with the skills necessary for lifelong learning. Unlike traditional schools, our students transition from one classroom to another when they are developmentally ready, rather than solely based on the academic year or their birthdays.
Our dedicated teaching teams closely monitor student development across various areas, including academics, physical abilities, socio-emotional skills, and self-direction. This allows us to determine the optimal time for each student to move to a new classroom setting where they can thrive.
In our Big Cats classroom, children aged 4 and a half experience a vibrant and stimulating environment. This stage is all about hands-on, concrete experiences that engage their senses and help them understand the world around them. The classroom is often filled with excitement, noise, and a healthy dose of friendly competition.
As students progress to the Penguin stage, they begin to develop empathy and learn to recognize the emotions of others. They also start to understand the consequences of their actions and reflect on their choices.
By the Dolphin stage, students have a strong awareness of the needs of others and how fulfilling those needs can benefit everyone. However, they are still developing an understanding of their own inner selves.
Our teachers share the same enthusiasm for learning as they inspire in our students. They are carefully selected for their ability to recognize the talents and individual needs of each child in their care. Our staff works collaboratively to ensure that all children are nurtured and challenged, creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
Brisbane Independent School follows the Australian Curriculum, which has been specifically developed to meet the needs of learners and educators alike. Our Expedition Curriculum stimulates a sense of powerful exploration, instilling in our students a deep confidence in their ability to learn and achieve their goals.
We believe that education is a lifelong journey that involves everyone in our community. We offer regular events and workshops where parents, teachers, and volunteers can learn more about our unique philosophy, developmental education, and integral psychology in education. Our website also provides access to a wealth of articles, media releases, and upcoming public events.
At Brisbane Independent School, we are proud to acknowledge and pay respect to the Traditional Owners of the land throughout Australia. We recognize and honor the ongoing living cultures of the First Peoples and proudly educate on Meeanjin Tulma Land, the home of the Yuggera People. Sovereignty was never ceded, and we are committed to fostering a culture of inclusivity and respect.
We invite you to join our community at Brisbane Independent School. We are confident that you will love what we have to offer and the unique approach to education that sets us apart.

Reviews
"I went here and it was a decent school. The learning was good."
"I went to this school for about a year in 1984 so I would have been in the grade 4 level. Trying to piece back random memories of this place. I remember sitting in a mulberry tree eating mulberries. I remember they had a clay pottery class which I enjoyed. I remember some teacher that had a motorbike, we all thought he was cool. I remember not doing any school work or any traditional formal lessons. I remember taking the bus into the city and exchanging to another bus for the hour long ride to get out there. It's hard to be objective about giving a review from 40 years ago as a kid. I remember it just felt like play time all the time. Teachers represented school work so I probably spent most of my time avoiding them. Kids had already formed their cliques and I felt kind of lost there. I probably learnt the most from the pottery class, I don't think I picked up any academic skills there and struggled a bit in the next traditional public school. It's good to see the school is still going and I don't doubt it's come along way since I was there."
"Former student Best place for a child I am grateful every day for what I learnt there and the quality of my teachers"
"I go there and it is an awesome school and I will always suggest it as a great school."
"A truly developmental, holistic model of education. Best decision we ever made for our 3 children."
