"Attended this school from 7 to year 8 and left mid term because of bullying issues which destroyed my mental well-being. The school barely did anything about it and basically let the students get away with it no consequences or nothing, this isn’t the first time those students had done that to me and I had reported them but yet the school still did nothing about it."
"This has been my son's first year through ACC Moreton Distance Education. He is currently studying grade 5 and is loving the flexibility of when he does his work. All the content needed for learning is done online and all of the teachers involved have done a great job in preparing the subject they specialise in. When my son was at school he wasn't that fussed over science but Mr Strickland (hope that's right) who teaches it via DE provides a very entertaining way of delivering the content and has turned science into a great experience, even I've learnt a lot by watching him. My son's teacher Mr Slack does a great job. When we have needed help he has always gotten back to us and explained things in a way that has made it easier to understand. I have enjoyed how they have broken up the subjects over the term, it makes it easy when it comes time to learning new topics. Of course like anything, on the odd occasion something might slip through that hasn't been double checked like a wrong answer for maths etc, but considering that's really the only thing bad that we could say about it, I'd say that's extremely good. From my experience and my son's, I'd have to say that all the staff are doing an exceptional job and would highly recommend ACC Moreton Distance Education for those wanting to transition from a school to home learning. What's also great is their willingness for feedback to consistently improve. Keep up the amazing work you all do and thanks for making the transition an easy process."
"We are so blessed to be part of ACC family for 2023. Our son settled in well and quickly made new friends. Performing publicly is not an easy for my son but surprisingly, the shyness in him was gone when he took part in Harmony Day. The school was also helpful with maths tutoring for students needing help. We found that ACC created a safer, friendly and effective learning environment for all the students."
"Reviewing the distance education branch of ACC Moreton. We've withdrawn after 3 weeks due to the overwhelming F-3 workload. May suit families with one child who have time to add in supplementary activities. Very difficult with more than one elementary child. Pros - Very affordable option. - Excellent admin and communication from teachers. - Enthusiastic and kind teachers. - They provide a very strict structure for the day for those who like that kind of homeschooling style. - Some really interesting content. Cons - - 3-4 hours of videos and worksheets a day for grades F-3. Highly doubt classes of 30+ kids to 1 teacher are getting through this kind of workload a day! - If you miss a couple of days, it's really a disaster because the curriculum is so crammed and fast-paced that you can fall behind badly. ie - Grade 3 English curriculum gives 7 days or so to research butterflies, make an information report draft and make a final copy with a bibliography!! This is in the first 3 weeks of the term. But that's not all. At the same time, you must learn 20 spelling words a week, read flow charts and learn about different text types and the language used in them. Plus they throw in some pages of reading comprehension, grade 1 grammar/punctuation review worksheets (full-stops/nouns/capital letters) and online quizzes. No, I'm not kidding, this was all just for one subject (English) in the first 3 weeks of the term!! - The term is only 9 weeks so it's rushed. If you need 3-week vacations every 9 weeks, that's nice. We don't. I wasn't aware of this when we signed either. -They expect you to work on public holidays due to this short term they run. They gave us a full workload for Australia Day and told me if I have the public holiday off I have to make it up another time. The work must be done and you need to submit a weekly sheet showing you've ticked off all the learning tasks. Wanted to stick it out for at least a term, but knew in the 3rd week that I didn't want or need my little elementary children slaving under such an unnecessary workload. Each family is different and no doubt the style suits some, but for other families to avoid disappointment, I wanted to write this. I simply hope it's helpful because what a rollercoaster we've had finding all this out and having to make other arrangements mid-term! I hope the school can make some changes."
"Very happy with the lower primary classes. Teachers very approachable. Our prep teacher is very experienced. Our year two child has been taught manners as well as academic work. Also happy with the learning support team. Tuckshop is much more affordable this year as well. We have been able to get most clothes secondhand at the schools uniform shop. Very affordable for a private school."
