"St Ali Cafes Coffee Beans, which are available in their Cafes, Coffee carts and in some supermarkets are roasted here. The unassuming entrance through some roller doors is in Hall Street, around the corner from their listed address on Lorimer Street. Set in Port Melbournes industrial area, a large warehouse, "Sensory Lab", is actually signposted on the outside as "St Ali Coffee Roasters". There is a small café just inside the Eastern entrance of the building with a few tables and chairs. There are a few tables and chairs with umbrellas outside in the carpark as well. All they sell is Barista made coffees and a small range of pastries to go with them. Whilst seated having your coffee you can watch the goings on in the factory the Cafe is located inside, where the beans you are drinking have been roasted. Each cup comes with detailed tasting notes and source of origin details. There is a small range of coffee related paraphernalia available, souvenir t-shirts, mugs, sauces, chocolates, mugs etc. There is no menu or price lists that I could see, what you see is what you get. I found that quite annoying, especially in the small souvenir shop section, I had to ask the staff for the price of every single item I was interested in.... ...it's the same in the other St Ali's full on Cafe/Restaurants: no prices on any of the dozens and dozens of food and souvenir items on display for sale. Staff are fantastic, obviously passionate and really knowledgeable about the coffees they make and happy to talk about them with you. And the coffee they make is superb!"
