About the Business
Welcome to Vinnies, located at 158 Canterbury Road in Kilsyth South, Australia. As a prominent establishment and point of interest, Vinnies is not just a store, but an institution dedicated to providing over 200 services to those in need. With a longstanding commitment to supporting the constitutional recognition of Australia's First Nations peoples, we strive to make a positive impact in our community.
At Vinnies, we understand that many families struggle to cover the basics due to financial constraints. That's where we step in, offering practical support to ease the pressure and provide another choice for Australians facing poverty. With more than 45,000 dedicated members and volunteers, the St Vincent de Paul Society in Australia works tirelessly to assist those in need and combat social injustice across the country. Our efforts extend internationally, operating in 153 countries with over 800,000 members.
Our mission, vision, and values are the foundation of our work at Vinnies. We believe in loyalty, understanding, and service to all, regardless of creed, ethnicity, social background, health, gender, or political opinions. Building relationships based on respect, trust, friendship, and perception, we strive to transform the causes of poverty and challenge human injustice. We encourage spiritual growth, welcome innovation, and provide hope for the future.
As a nominating organization for the Australian Government's School Student Broadband Initiative (SSBI), Vinnies is proud to contribute to the community in various ways. We are always looking for motivated individuals who share our community-minded values to get involved in our programs, events, and services nationwide.
Furthermore, the St Vincent de Paul Society is committed to speaking out against the causes of poverty and inequality on behalf of the people we serve. We've witnessed incredible stories of transformation, such as Samantha's, whose life took a turn for the better with a helping hand from Vinnies. J, injured at work and retrenched at 55, found support during a challenging time, and D, unemployed for the first time in her life, received assistance just before her 64th birthday.
As a lay Catholic organization, we are dedicated to creating a more just and compassionate society. We acknowledge that we are on Aboriginal land and pay our respects to all traditional custodians. This website may contain images of deceased members of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, which are used with the utmost respect and appreciation.
The St Vincent de Paul Society National Council of Australia Inc., with ABN 50 748 098 845, ARBN 612 807 995, and Charity Number 23838, is endorsed by the Australian Taxation Office as a Deductible Gift Recipient. Join us at Vinnies and be part of the change we wish to see in our society.

"I’d like to thank team and Manageress Priscilla for understanding and professional conducting my purchase and subsequent return of an item. Special thanks to Marianne as well. Great team, plenty of stock, however a bit overpriced."
"This is a big opp shop and can be hit and miss. The take home is that it has a commercially focussed business model - anything nice is usually priced up - if you are prepared to pay you may find what you like. As this is a commercially run opp shop, staff can be varied from brisk and rude managers to more friendly volunteers. Clothing is ok priced but but lots of fast fashion and loud prints - again ok if you like it and willing to sort through. In bric-a-brac can find bits and pieces ok priced, but of course not vintage stuff."
"This is a great op shop, clean, spacious, well set out and friendly staff"
"This is, in my opinion, one of the best oppies in Melbourne. Clean, extremely well organised and presented with quality products."
"Big shop. Surrounded by 2 other big op shops. Big range and everything priced fairly not like some of the other op shops around these suburbs. No disabled car parks that I could find though. So if you have a wheelchair you might want to get an edge car park."
