About the Business
Welcome to Ascot Vale Maternal & Child Health Centre, located at 147 Maribyrnong Road in Ascot Vale, Australia. Our institution is a point of interest for families in the area, providing essential health services and support for parents and children.
At Ascot Vale Maternal & Child Health Centre, our dedicated team of Maternal and Child Health nurses are registered nurses with additional qualifications in midwifery and maternal and child health. They have the expertise and experience to address all aspects of child and family health and wellbeing.
We offer the Enhanced Maternal and Child Health program as an extension of Victoria's Maternal and Child Health service. This program provides additional support to selected families who may require extra assistance. To access this service, you can be referred by your Maternal and Child Health Nurse. Simply complete the referral form and email it to [email protected].
To make or change a booking or to speak with our MCH team, please call 9243 1895 or email [email protected]. Alternatively, you can fill in the form on our website.
During your visits to our centre, our nurses actively involve parents in assessing the development and wellbeing of their child using the Parents Evaluation of Developmental Status (PEDS) screening tool. We discuss various topics such as the child's health and development, the impact on the family, parent health and wellbeing, and any concerns families may have.
We offer 10 key ages and stages consultations that align with your child's milestones from birth to 3.5 years. Each consultation page on our website provides tip sheets, information, and links to additional resources for your reference.
Additionally, we provide a program for new parents living in Moonee Valley. This program offers valuable information on health, wellbeing, and family matters, as well as the opportunity to connect with other local families. Partners are invited to attend these sessions as well. Your nurse will guide you on how to register for these groups during your initial MCH visits.
To support breastfeeding mothers, we offer free weekly breastfeeding support sessions led by Certified Lactation Consultants. Appointments for these sessions can be made through your MCH nurse. For immediate assistance, the Australian Breastfeeding Association has a 24-hour helpline at 1800 686 268.
If you have concerns about your baby's sleep patterns, our centre can provide guidance. Babies and children's sleep patterns change over time and are influenced by their development. Understanding these patterns and development times can help you create healthy sleep patterns as your child grows.
Our centre also fosters connections with the local community as we often share facilities with childcare centres, kindergartens, or community centres. This arrangement allows families to access multiple services in one location.
We value your privacy and consent. While our staff collaboratively exchange perspectives on children's development in various environments, we always seek consent from parents or guardians before requesting personal information about your child.
Our waiting rooms are open for all parents who are feeding, providing a comfortable space for breastfeeding and baby care.
For additional support and advice, a telephone advice service staffed by Maternal and Child Health nurses is available throughout Victoria. You can reach them at 13 22 29.
If you require an interpreter or have a hearing impairment with access to a telephone typewriter (TTY), an interpreter service is available for your convenience.
To stay informed about our services and receive reliable information, we encourage you to download the Maternal and Child Health App from the app store. Additionally, the Better Health channel, backed by the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services, provides trustworthy and easy-to-understand information on what to expect from your appointments and a full list of MACH centres.
As a council, we acknowledge and respect the traditional custodians of this land, the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung People of the Kulin Nation, as well as the ongoing climate emergency we face. Our commitment to a low carbon future has earned us certification as a carbon-neutral operation.

Reviews
"Avoid at all costs. Gave us some conflicting information about over feeding our 2 week old daughter and that she was overweight. After seeing another midwife elsewhere we learned we were in fact under feeding her, nowhere near her ideal weight and to now boost her back up. Took awhile before we got back on track after few stressful weeks. Turns out some of the midwife/consultants here have a reputation for poor judgment and advice as we later learned of similar such stories from other local midwives and mothers groups."
"Great friendly staff"
