About the Business
Welcome to Mount Street Medical Centre, located at 80 Mount Street in Heidelberg, Australia. Established in February 2000, our fully accredited practice is dedicated to providing true family medicine. As a collaborative venture of three local general practitioners, we are committed to offering comprehensive care to individuals and families.
Our team of doctors is supported by our highly skilled Practice Nurses, who play a crucial role in patient care. They assist the doctors with care plans, health assessments, immunizations, wound care, and attending to emergency patients. If you have an urgent medical problem and need to speak to a doctor, please communicate this clearly to our medical receptionist. If your doctor is not immediately available, your call will be transferred to one of our practice nurses.
Please note that consultations are by appointment only. However, we promptly deal with emergency cases and telephone calls. Our practice operates on a flexible appointment system, with standard appointments scheduled at 15-minute intervals. We also offer urgent and longer appointments upon request. When booking your appointment, please specify the doctor you would like to see and the desired length of consultation.
Please be aware that telehealth consultations via video link with a GP are not available at our clinic. We kindly request a minimum of 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment.
Our consultations and procedures are privately billed by each practitioner, in accordance with the schedule in the surgery. The fees include a component reimbursed by Medicare, as well as an 'out of pocket' amount. For in-person visits, the fee for a long visit is $132.
Starting from October 1st, 2022, Health card holders and Senior Health Care Card holders will no longer be bulk billed. Additionally, there is no bulk billing available on Saturdays for pensioners and social security card holders, who will be charged a fee. However, pensioners and Veterans' Affairs gold card holders are eligible for bulk billing. Most small procedures, such as the removal of a skin lesion, are also bulk billed.
We accept payments in cash, EFT, Visa, and Mastercard.
At our practice, we have agreed to supervise medical students from the University of Melbourne as they learn about general practice. During their time with us, they will observe consultations, conduct procedures, and interview and examine patients under the supervision of your doctor. If you prefer not to have a medical student involved in your consultation, please inform our reception staff.
Our opening hours are Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 6:30pm and Saturday from 8:30am to 12:00pm. Please note that we are closed on Sundays and public holidays.
Thank you for choosing Mount Street Medical Centre, where your health and well-being are our top priorities.

"I also came here to warn of the horrible reception staff and I can see I'm not alone! They are rude and condescending. I used to be a medical receptionist and understand you need to be firm but you don't have to be rude and mean. My friend also had a run in with reception over demanding emails about a bill that she had already paid. For a two minute phone call from the doctor that she thought was just to get test results but then got billed 50 bucks for a telehealth conference! A pity about the admin side because I've seen two doctors at this practice and they were both nice and very thorough."
"Impossible to book an appointment that is less than 2-3 weeks away, reception seems to be a bit rude, they are very busy but at the same time they don't need to rush things. The consultation price is 130$ for the first visit that you can't get..."
"Rude, unhelpful reception staff. Do better. People are unwell, people are anxious. And if you can’t do better, pick a different job. Appalled."
"Ongoing terrible customer service from reception (verbal and over email) and had to contact the practice manager myself to follow up on my complaint as I'd not heard anything for 2 weeks. I received good medical care from the doctor I was seeing there but reception's poor attention to communicating with people who live with disability is appalling. They assure me they will ensure staff have access to training but they should already be trained in these matters. Really disappointing in 2022."
"From my first appointment I thought Dr. Eileen Yapp would be a good doctor, she told me to challenge her if I ever felt the need and she'd prefer I challenge what she says if I disagree. After seeing Eileen Yapp for some headaches and other symptoms she organized an MRI on my head. After getting the results she told to come for a second MRI at the end of the year for a check up and I quote "Make sure you come back at the end of the year for the second MRI because the last person I told this to went to another doctor for a second opinion and died from a brain tumor" and when I went back in at the end of the year she seems to have not written it down, lied to me or changed her mind as she does not have any notes regarding the check up and does not remember it. She spent the entirety of that appointment cutting me off, putting words in my mouth and making assumptions about my circumstances while stopping me from being able to challenge what she said about me. What she has done is incredibly negligent regardless of if the second MRI checkup was justified or not. And she made me more anxious than I ever have been in a doctors office, and then tried to blame my problems on my anxiety which she directly provoked. She stopped me from being able to challenge anything she said after putting me in a state of distress for several months wondering if I'm going to die from a brain tumor. And to top of it off she was more concerned with whether she could sleep well that night because she felt I was suicidal and did not want that on her conscience. Literally asking me "Can I sleep tonight without worrying about you doing anything?" after talking about being depressed and trying to push her psychiatrist on me which I did not want for several reasons which I was apparently not allowed to explain. She put me in a state of distress about whether I was going to live and was more concerned that if I killed myself she'd have that on her conscience."
