At Flinders Osteo Clinic, our focus is on delivering honest and effective healthcare for acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries and pain. Our team of Osteopaths are tertiary qualified and APHRA registered Allied Health practitioners who specialize in diagnosing, treating, and examining conditions of the musculoskeletal system. We work in conjunction with other health providers, such as your GP, to ensure comprehensive care.

During a typical treatment session, we begin by taking a full medical history and examining any relevant scans you may have. We then proceed with a thorough physical examination, which may include neurological testing, orthopaedic examination, gait analysis, or functional testing. This process is similar to what you may have experienced with your General Practitioner.

Following the examination, we usually have a good idea of your diagnosis. In rare cases where further clarification is needed, we may refer you for imaging such as x-rays or MRI scans. Once we have a clear understanding of your condition, we employ various hands-on methods such as joint mobilization, massage, dry needling, manipulation, or stretching to address the affected area. Our techniques prioritize safety and appropriateness for each individual.

At the end of your consultation, we will provide you with a comprehensive plan for managing your condition. This plan may include advice on sleeping posture or work ergonomics, self-management methods like heat or ice therapy, and a personalized plan for ongoing treatment. Our ultimate goal is to help you return to normal function as quickly as possible. However, we do not encourage over-treatment for conditions.

In addition to manual therapy, we believe in the importance of active management for your complaint. Exercise prescription is a key component of our treatment approach, and we utilize software called PhysiApp to create a home-based program tailored to your needs. If necessary, we can also refer you to our adjacent Pilates Studio for further assistance.

If you are wondering about payment options, please note that while we are primarily a private billing practice, we do offer billing through third-party providers such as work cover, TAC, and DVA. Simply bring your referral or claim number with you. We are also able to see patients through the MEDICARE CHRONIC-DISEASE MANAGEMENT PROGRAM, also known as an EPC (Extended Primary Care). This requires a referral from your general practitioner and certain criteria must be met for coverage.

Our fees for new patient initial consultations are $115 for up to 1 hour, while return consultations are $90 for up to 40 minutes. Concession rates are available. Additionally, private health claiming is available, but we recommend checking with your insurer to confirm if Osteo treatments are covered under your policy.
