Reviews
"Reading the reviews, I felt it necessary to provide my opinion of my experience at this clinic. I’ve had three terminations at the FCC. Each and every experience has been very streamlined, professional and pleasant (as it can be given the procedure). The worst part of my visit was the protestors out the front, I’m glad they’re not able to protest directly out the front anymore. My then boyfriend (now husband) was told ‘she’ll never be the same’. I would absolutely recommend this clinic to anyone needing assistance with women’s matters. Dr Rutman was what I needed him to be; efficient and non-judgmental. Thank you again. As I’m now nearing the end of my reproductive days (getting a bit old!), I don’t foresee having to visit again but I would absolutely have no hesitation in recommending you guys to any other women in need."
"This is my third time at the clinic. While the nursing staff are extremely friendly, the bureaucracy is overwhelming and nothing is digitized (had to fill out the patient form three times in two months). When I was finally brought in to see the doctor after about an hour of waiting, he was condescending and dismissive (I said I didn’t want anesthesia to get an iud, he ignored me and said “you don’t want that”) despite the fact that my doctor back home said it was my choice. I also was not told on the phone that I would be getting anesthesia, nor was I told the appmt would last 3hours so I had to cancel my morning of meetings at the last minute. Won’t be coming back if I can avoid it."
"Highly recommend. Able to get in really quickly for IUD insertion under procedural sedation. Everyone so lovely, caring, and professional. Great experience with amazing staff"
"I've got to agree with the other reviews that it would be nice if the person who answers the phones here was a bit warmer/friendlier, she has a very no-nonsense vibe. Getting IUD's/abortions can be scary so ideally you want someone gentle and calming to talk to. However she is efficient, and was understanding and very helpful when I had to reschedule my appointment last minute - so I can't really complain about that. I came here because I wanted the Mirena IUD but I was afraid of the pain of insertion and didn't want to be awake for the procedure (honestly the whole thing sounds so barbaric I can't believe some people do it without pain relief). I am really happy with how it went and would recommend this place if you want to get an IUD inserted under sedation. The clinic is a bit ugly and bare, but it was clean and all the staff worked together like a well oiled machine getting through all the tests, paperwork, etc. I was completely sedated for the procedure and when I woke up I felt no pain at all. I think after a few hours the anaesthetic started to wear off and I gradually started to get some mild cramps, nothing too bad. Overall the process was easy and pain-free so I'm happy because I got exactly what I wanted. I really liked the nurses and the anaesthesiologist, they were super friendly and made me feel safe. And at the end you get offered tea and biscuits which tasted amazing after fasting for so many hours! $400 for a pain-free procedure was well worth it."
"I highly suspect any review that’s above 1 is fake. To begin with there were detour routes on the way causing us to be a mere 15 minutes late. We had the courtesy to call ahead twice and check in with the receptionist who made it very clear she wasn’t impressed and made us feel very flustered and pressured when there was literally nothing we could do. I walked into the clinic and it looked like a basement morgue, could over hear conversations between employees regarding other patients, as an ex Nurse I was disgusted. The gentlemen who was to perform a scan barely looked at and addressed his actual patient when talking, he spent most of his time addressing me (I was there as support not the one having the procedure?). He’d stressed that there was NOTHING they could help with post 12 weeks but neglected to mention that there was in fact other options elsewhere. When we left and I waited at the front counter a while to have a chat re why we chose to leave and there was a drawer full of patient files left on the front counter with information showing. This whole experience exacerbated an already difficult experience to face, utterly horrendous. We left and it was the right decision to head to Msi in St Kilda to meet the team and make some inquiries. They were the absolute polar opposites in bedside manner, willingness to help and warmth. Humanity, professionalism and warmth goes a long way when someone is at their most vulnerable & scared."
