Welcome to Nestoras Greek College Thomastown! Located at 80-96 Main Street in Thomastown, Australia, our institution is an establishment and point of interest that aims to provide a nurturing environment for students to embrace their Greek language, identity, and conscience through the richness of Greek history and culture.

For over 49 years, Nestoras College has been dedicated to maintaining and preserving Greek language and culture in Australia. Our story began in 1975 when the school was founded by two experienced teachers from Greece who shared a vision for the education of Greek heritage. Since then, our school has grown significantly and now offers Greek language tuition at three campuses in Melbourne: Thornbury High School, Doncaster Secondary College, and Thomastown Secondary College. Our classes cater to students from 4 years old in Kinder all the way to VCE Year 12.

At Nestoras College, we empower our students to cultivate their Greek language skills and deepen their knowledge of Greek heritage and culture through various activities such as Greek dance, Greek music, and Greek theatre. Our school program embraces centuries of Hellenic culture to enrich our students' cultural identity and Greek conscience.

From the ancient world of Greek civilization, students are immersed in the teachings of Greek philosophers like Aristotle and Socrates, the achievements of Alexander the Great and the Olympic Games, and the political and artistic contributions of Pericles. They also learn about historical events such as the War of Independence, the Asia Minor Disaster, and World War II, which provide insights into modern Greek history.

Our students also explore the connection between Greek mythology and today's modern world. They are introduced to fascinating mythical characters and heroes, whose legacy continues to inspire and teach valuable life lessons in modern-day Hollywood films, graphic novels, and television shows.

The Byzantine period is another captivating journey for our students, with a focus on the life of Greek people, the arts, education, language, and Christianity until the fall of Constantinople.

In addition to language and cultural studies, we offer an instrument tuition program, where students can learn to play instruments such as the Acoustic Guitar, Bouzouki, or Baglama. We currently have over 100 students enrolled in this program across our three campuses.

Greek dancing is also a beloved part of our Greek culture, enjoyed by all of our students on a weekly basis. We have invested in over 90 traditional costumes from various regions in Greece, allowing our students to wear representative costumes as they progress and dance to live traditional music at our concerts.

At Nestoras College, we believe in the intrinsic educational value of creativity and collaboration. Our theater productions provide students with an opportunity to express themselves, project a positive and self-confident image, and promote active learning and understanding through a kinaesthetic approach. These productions are showcased at our school concerts held in June and December every year.

Founded in 1975, Nestoras College has grown across three campuses, supporting over 700 students. Our dedicated teachers, who are fully certified to teach Greek language and culture, ensure that our students receive the highest quality education in Greek traditions and values.
