"My wife delivered our boy here . Thanks to all the doctors , midwives and support staff who took good care of mum and bub. This team of midwives is full of angels. They handle everyone patiently with utmost care , love, respect and dignity . Special thanks to Danielle, Alexa , Steff, Nina . For future mums who want to deliver here, 1. Please note that it’s a very busy hospital and sometimes there ll be delays ( only because there are other patients who need the attention) 2. Shared care will not allow partners to stay overnight ."
"My daughter's birth here was nothing shy of traumatic; everything following the birth was an absolute nightmare. I was treated like a second class citizen for the remainder of the stay, accosted by one of the nurses and told I can't come back. All I did was quietly and calmly bring my partner and baby fresh laundry and some healthy takeaway. One of the staff straight up lied about my partners consent to visit and then falsified a report about aggression - disgusting behaviour! We picked this hospital because they purportedly know how to assist women with mental health conditions, but in practice that has been tragically untrue. Supporting women with mental health conditions through birth is extremely difficult and complicated, and this support was so sorely needed. Instead, the staff placated my partners worst imagined fears and drove an enormous wedge in our family. If you know anything about supporting people with delusions, you know that they need gentle grounding and assistance with determining what is and isn't real. Supportive and healthy partners will always need to play a role in that - what do they think happens after dismissal? To all young fathers - this hospital doesn't care about you at all. You are a 'visitor', not a patient, and they don't care if you get to see your baby or not. It's absolutely foetid policy. If your partner needs mental health assistance or you plan on having a modern responsible family unit, go literally anywhere else. This place runs on ancient gender roles. Edit for response: I already called to file a complaint and was promised a callback that never arrived. No change is coming, I just have to accept it and move on."
"Had the most wonderful experience yesterday as a patient at The Royal Women’s Hospital. From my lovely admission nurse Maree, to the fantastic theatre team - Ainslie Murdoch, Clare, Sue, April and Binil, I felt so safe and well cared for. Everyone had a smile on their face and made every moment incredible. Recovery & Day surgery was a breeze with everyone being so empathetic and lovely (thank you all). Matt Watson and Hayden Thorpe my doctors were SO caring, kind, and took so much time to explain everything to me and allow me to ask questions. Thank you so much! ❤️❤️❤️"
"My most sincere thank you to all the midwives, doctors, nurses and staff who attended us (including our little 'Kreature') in Nov 2022. I have been wanting to share my gratitude for 8.5 months but being a new mum has kept me occupied. Every time we went for our midwife appointment, the time at the ED due to abnormal foetal movements, the induction we decided to have, and during the entire process of labour and delivery, I felt respected and cared for the best and most patient way possible. We are truly grateful for the care and support we continued to receive after the delivery at the ED and physio. The labour and delivery were challenging for me, especially with back labour, long second stage and vacuum delivery, but I knew I was in safe hands. The midwives provided gentle advice/options, and every small progress was celebrated. We gained a lot of knowledge from the nurses and midwives on how to care for our infant, and my episiotomy healed speedily. Also appreciate the hospital's flexibility for letting my husband stay with me for all the four nights at the hospital. Thank you again for being such an awesome team at the Women's!"
"I went in crying in pain due to a condition that was not life threatening, just painful. I waited nearly 3 hours to be seen, and I gladly did after seeing the conditions of some patients that came after me, my life was not in danger, just in pain thankfully, and it would be an amazing world if people had more empathy towards others, we are important, so everyone is. I saw some people complaining about the wait, I was been looked after with pain killers. No drama, I was seen and booked for an emergency surgery the next day, first thing in the morning. Amazing, I got to go home, have a good dose of painkillers, and thought, all this for free! I had been to private hospitals which the fee to be seen is about 450 dollars plus everything else, including anesthetist fees, tests and scans. I came back the next day, in enormous pain, and all I got was kindness and understanding from all the people I interacted with. I highly recommend this place. I am totally grateful for the service they provide"
