"We bought three portside extendable dining tables and seats (2 for an investment property) and one for our home. These tables retails at $2500 After 18 months the timber panels on the top started to warp meaning a glass sitting on the top wobbles and is unstable. When I contacted west elm they said that this is normal wear and tear and that my outdoor table should be protected from the weather with covers. I expected these tables to last more than 18 months and if they are not suitable for outdoors, then that should be advised to the customer on purchase (not in some fine print buried in the website). Will be taking this to the ACCC. Outrageous that something sold and priced as being top quality is useless after less than 2 years. We also waited months for delivery with mix ups and miscommunications."

"The items look nice, but when I went in store to see them in person, it was obvious that they are not of good quality. For example, multiple bedside tables of different styles had uneven legs (not all sitting level on the ground). Also drawers didn't glide in/out smoothly. It's weird because the prices are what you'd expect of something high quality, but the actual products just don't match up to the level of quality you would expect for the price they are. So glad I didn't purchase online without seeing the items I was interested in - I would have been very disappointed. One item I was really interested in wasn't on display at the South Yarra store - so if you do want to see a particular item (even after these reviews? haha) then probably ring ahead to make sure they actually have it before you bother going."

"A bed more than $2000 is squeaky and the screws and joints don't align. IKEA has got better quality. At least I have bought more than 5 beds from IKEA and none of them are squeaky. Worst quality for this price. Feel so stupid to have paid for West Elm's marketing."

"Wished we’d seen the reviews before ordering off them online. We bought an expensive rug off them. As we had a young puppy we kept it rolled up. Once our puppy was toilet trained we unrolled it only to find a mark. They refused to replace it. Won’t shop here again and recommend others don’t either - if you do triple check the product before accepting delivery or just go somewhere more reliable."

"If it wasn’t for the lovely products at this store (that I buy) I wouldn’t be coming back as the staff here are beyond ridiculous in the way they greet you, the way they look at you , the way they give you no customer service , what is it with this store and screaming out pretentious staff thinking it’s a privilege to be served ?"
