"I have had my fair share of surgeries with many different surgeons, some resulting in negligible conduct. Professor Abbott and anaesthetist Dr Downs were incredible and beyond my expectation of care!!!!! I suffer from chronic pain and they were the first drs for a surgery to put a plan in place for recovery to avoid the wall of pain that hits when awaking from surgery not only from the surgical field but from nerve damage throughout my whole body. Professor Abbott took a steady approach to my care to ensure I was making the right decision and ultimately listened to what I felt I needed which resulted in me feeling better than I have in over 5 years and which i respected him so much more for! Could not fault my experience with surgery. I hope you get to read this Prof Abbott because I truly appreciate your care of my circumstance."
"Have been seeing Mr Abbott for a good part of a year now… since the last appointment 2 + months ago I’ve called the reception and his practice along with my parents 10+ times chasing up a referral to a haematologist. Still no action Nor has the time to spell my name correctly on any documentation. Wouldn’t recommend unfortunately"
"My experience with Prof Abbott was excellent. He was respectful and kind, and paid close attention to my self reported experience of pain and symptoms. He did his best to use non invasive procedures in the first instance before progressing to surgery. After a previous failed surgery with a different specialist, I was so thrilled with the entire experience of surgery with Prof Abbott and the results of the surgery, which have been life changing."
"Extremely negligent, Extremely rude, No empathy for the patient whatsoever is an understatement for this guy. I was diagnosed with stage 4 of endometriotis (last stage) and was referred to him. I was unable to walk without support due to pain when I met this guy (not going to address him as a Dr because doctors are suppose to look after you and save you). 1st time seeing him, I told him my concern, he had seen all my reports, scans and after surgery (emergency surgery) reports and all the reports from previous specialist clearly stating my condition but he wanted to do another surgery just to go in and have a look to confirm (what was already confirmed) when I was still recovering from my emergency surgery which had happened only weeks ago. I cried in front of him and tried to explain the level of my pain and he literally yelled at me totally dismissing my concern and telling me it's all in my head while the reports in front of him showed how the disease has spread through my organs? I never went back after my initial appointment, I do not care what position he holds in the endometriotis world if he can't connect to his patient and above all dismissing them and their pain by saying its all in my head? HOW PATHETIC. I underwent a major surgery few months later where 3 surgeons were involved and they had to remove part of my bowel and bladder , that's how widely the disease had spread across while this rude man said it's all "in my head". DISGUSTING. He should not be a doctor."
"The best there is in endometriosis care in Australia. I recently had a ten hour surgery with him that has given my life back. This included a bowel resection. Two other surgeons touting to be the best both refused to treat my deep endometriosis disease. I went to doctor Abbott desperate and very scared. My pain was immense and I was completely disabled by my disease. I couldn't even walk up a few stairs with out loosing control of my bowels and was on enough pain meds to tranquillise an animal. One previous surgeon even operated on me twice leaving extensive disease behind.A testimony to Dr Abbott's resource and knowledge he specialises in hard cases other surgeons are too scared to take. He isn't into gynaecology for quick money, like so many others. I've seen him publicly and privately and I'm treated the same. This is extremely rare, usually a second class citizen when you're in public with other Gynos. His breath of knowledge is immense on any female problem. He has a very good bed side manner, and can translate medical information and up to date research in a way that anyone can understand. abbott has never laughed or dismissed my questions. He is very humble and won't stop until you're feeling better. I know this because I've been in hospital with him twice for two weeks each time. He is committed to teaching and his team of fellows are learning to be as great and compassionate as he is. The gynaecological ward at The Royal Women's is a leading institution tackling all sorts of issues including pelvic pain physio. Alana healthcare is also amazing centre which has an extensive team of Gyno and fertility specialists. Abbott is a world class surgeon and Gyno we are lucky to have. We are the envy of the world, where many women can only access insufficient ablative surgery."
