The Shack (Upper Plenty Mechanics Institute Hall)

Welcome to The Shack (Upper Plenty Mechanics Institute Hall), located at Upper Plenty, Wallan Road, 1240. This establishment is a point of interest in Australia and holds a significant place in the community.

Unfortunately, The Shack experienced a devastating fire on the 22nd of October 2015, resulting in a complete loss of the building. This incident was a great loss for the Upper Plenty community, as the hall served as a hub for various activities and events.

Despite this setback, The Shack has continued to play a vital role in the community. The Upper Plenty History Exhibition, held at The Shack, was recognized and shortlisted for the Victorian Community History Awards in 2015. Rose King and Claire McGregor, the organizers of the exhibition, were thrilled to receive a certificate of recognition for their efforts.

To commemorate the 100-year celebrations of the Upper Plenty Community Hall, photo albums have been added, showcasing the rich history and memories associated with The Shack. Additionally, the webpage features pictures from the 2014 Christmas community party, which was held at The Shack.

A new page highlighting Upper Plenty's contributions has also been added, providing visitors with insights into the community's achievements and endeavors.

In times of emergency, The Shack has also served as a platform for disseminating important information. The Mitchell Shire Council Fire Information and Mitchell Shire Community Group have shared updates and resources to help the community during bushfire emergencies.
