About the Business
Welcome to Our Lady of the Sacred Heart College Bentleigh! Located on Jasper Road in Bentleigh, Australia, our institution is not just a school, but a point of interest and a place of establishment that values community, excellence, and personal growth.
As an institution, we recognize and acknowledge the traditional owners of the land, the Bunurong people, and pay our respects to their Elders, both past and present. This acknowledgement reflects our commitment to fostering a sense of unity and respect within our community.
At OLSH College Bentleigh, we believe in the personal love of God, which gives our lives meaning and purpose. This belief empowers us to extend that love to others, helping them find their own sense of purpose and meaning. We also strongly believe in the inherent dignity of every human person, and we strive to create a supportive and inclusive environment for all members of our OLSH family, whether they are local or international.
Inspired by Jesus' words, "I have come that you may have life and have it to the full" (John 10:10), we pursue excellence in all aspects of our academic and personal endeavors. We encourage our students to challenge themselves and strive for their best, knowing that through their efforts, they can achieve great things.
Our OLSH identity is deeply rooted in our call to be united with the mission of Jesus. We embrace a tradition of service and outreach, and our commitment to social justice and caring for the less fortunate is a fundamental aspect of who we are as a community.
But it's not all about academics and service at OLSH College Bentleigh. We also believe in the importance of personal growth and creating memorable experiences. Our students have shared their experiences, saying things like "I challenged myself and completed activities because my peers encouraged me - it was a great bonding experience," and "Hartzer is all about finding yourself and being the best version of yourself, this journey has just begun and I have a whole lifetime to keep exploring." "I still feel guilt for sending my daughter to OLSH in 2019 in year 9. I truly believed OLSH would be supportive compassionate & inclusive community as that’s what the school preached. However my daughter was ignored as a new student there, hardly any of the students made her feel welcome or reached out to her. We withdrew her enrollment just after a year, she had to go to therapy as a result of her experience it was absolutely soul destroying."
"OLSH is a lovely and supportive school. I recently transferred here, and I must say, the teachers have been nothing but supportive, and they even have phycologists here, in case a student is struggling and really needs extra assistance. Despite age, every pupil is treated as an adult and apart from minor lashes of bullying, this school is really good, overall. There's over 5 subjects per semester, with exceedingly intriguing topics, the latter keeping most students avid enjoyers of previously disliked subjects, such as Mathematics. I recommend this school, which has catered to my every need and helped me excel in the subjects I love."
"As a past student I must absolutely contradict Pettifer Michelle. I struggled with math my entire high school duration and not one teacher left me behind. Every teacher at that school cares about every single student. The principal and vice principal are some of the loveliest people I have ever met, remembering small details about each student’s personality so they can understand them better. If you’re saying that teachers there don’t care about their students you must be kidding yourself."
"The subject choices offered are very limited compared to other similar sized schools. 'Technology studies' centre around dress-making and cooking, an extraordinarily backward approach to preparing young women for the future. 2nd-rate uniforms and accessories only available >11km from the school campus (most independent schools have their own onsite shop for affordable uniforms and equipment), and changing required text books every year so they can't be reused by siblings. Teaching feedback to parents is minimal and depends primarily on using a primitive webbased system."
"Amazing school, good teachers apart from a few . Too much based on popularity and wayyyy too many clique groups and bad girl dramas. But there are a lot of nice girls though!! But ugly new uniforms"
