Welcome to Riverdale Secondary School (interim name), a brand new establishment located in Tarneit, Victoria, within the City of Wyndham. We are excited to announce that our doors will open on the first day of Term 1 in 2024, providing the growing local population with a high-quality education right in their own neighborhood.

As an inclusive school, Riverdale Secondary is committed to serving the needs of all students. In particular, we will have approximately 100 places dedicated to young people with specialist needs. Our goal is to provide enhanced support and evidence-based educational provision to these students, alongside their mainstream peers, in a safe, accessible, and supportive environment.

We are proud to share that Riverdale Secondary School is part of the $527.233 million allocation for new schools in the 2022-23 State Budget. This funding will enable us to create state-of-the-art facilities and resources to support the academic and personal growth of our students.

After a two-week community consultation, we have chosen the name Brinbeal Secondary College for our new school. Brinbeal, a Bunurong word meaning rainbow, reflects our commitment to diversity and inclusivity.

We are thrilled to announce that Simon Haber has been appointed as the principal of Brinbeal Secondary College. With over 20 years of experience in education, Simon is dedicated to creating safe and inclusive schools where all students can thrive. His focus on student learning, wellbeing, and agency will ensure that every student at Brinbeal Secondary College receives the support they need to succeed.

In addition to our academic offerings, we are also constructing a performing arts building and community hub. Our students will enjoy modern learning areas equipped with air conditioning and heating. Outdoor spaces will feature shade sails for sun protection. We have designed our school to be environmentally sustainable and easy to manage, prioritizing the well-being of our students and the surrounding community.

Supported inclusion schools like Brinbeal Secondary College are designed to provide a higher level of support for students with disabilities compared to typical mainstream schools. Our aim is to create an inclusive environment where all students can learn and play together in the same areas as much as possible. This approach allows students with disabilities to have greater access to mainstream education while attending a school closer to home.

Throughout the planning and design process, we have actively sought input from the local Traditional Owners, represented by the Bunurong Land Council Aboriginal Corporation. Their endorsement of our design ensures that our school respects and incorporates the cultural heritage of the area.
