About the Business
Welcome to Yarrabing Secondary College, a brand new secondary school located in Aintree, Victoria, within the vibrant Melton City. As an establishment and point of interest, we are dedicated to providing high-quality education to the local community, conveniently close to home.
Scheduled to open its doors on the first day of Term 1 in 2024, Yarrabing Secondary College aims to accommodate up to 550 students once the first stage of the school is complete. In its inaugural year, the school will initially enroll Year 7 students and progressively expand to include higher year levels in the following years.
At Yarrabing Secondary College, we prioritize the educational needs of our students. That's why we have designed modern learning areas equipped with air conditioning and heating, ensuring a comfortable and conducive environment for academic growth. Additionally, outdoor play spaces with shade sails will be available to provide sun protection during recreational activities.
We are committed to environmental sustainability and efficient management. Our school has been specifically designed to be environmentally friendly, reflecting our dedication to responsible practices.
In selecting the name Yarrabing Secondary College, we engaged in a two-week community consultation process, valuing the input and feedback of the local community. Yarrabing, a Woi-wurrung word from the Wurundjeri people, meaning white gum, pays homage to the rich indigenous heritage of the area.
Under the leadership of our principal, John Mitsinikos, an experienced government school leader with 15 years of expertise, Yarrabing Secondary College is poised to create a strong learning culture among students and staff. Principal Mitsinikos, previously serving as the principal at Kurunjang Secondary College, is excited to be the foundation principal of our new school and is well-acquainted with the Brimbank Melton area.
Throughout the planning and design process, we have engaged with the local Traditional Owners, represented by the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Cultural Heritage Aboriginal Corporation, to ensure the endorsement of the school's design. This collaboration highlights our commitment to honoring and respecting the cultural heritage of the land.
Looking at our future plans, the school has designated buildings and facilities, marked in blue, that will be available from Term 1 in 2024. These include outdoor play spaces adjacent to the learning neighborhoods. Additionally, there are potential future stages, marked in grey, that are subject to further funding.
It is worth noting that Aintree Specialist School (interim name) is also located on the same site, as indicated by the sectioned off area on the plan. The school's location is easily accessible, with Recreation Road running along the top, Vision Street along the bottom, Warhawke Road to the right, and Wildwood Road to the left.
For any enrollment queries, please feel free to contact us via email at [email protected] or by calling the school at 04 2747 1682.
Yarrabing Secondary College is proud to be a part of the educational landscape in Aintree, and we look forward to providing an exceptional learning experience for our students, fostering their growth and success.
