About the Business
Welcome to Young Academics Early Learning Centre - Canterbury, located in the heart of Sydney's Inner West. Situated at Canterbury Road, 374, our establishment is conveniently positioned just a short walk from the local train station and primary school.
At Young Academics, we are dedicated to providing an engaging and educational experience for children aged six weeks to six years old. Our Canterbury Early Learning Centre offers a stimulating environment that is carefully designed to enrich the development of every child.
Each spacious room within our centre is equipped with thoughtfully selected resources and learning spaces, encouraging play, social interaction, and both physical and cognitive development. We believe that learning should be fun, and our environment reflects this belief.
Our generous outdoor zones invite children to explore the natural world, fostering a love and appreciation for the environment. These areas also provide ample space for sports and games, as well as learning experiences inspired by nature. Children can enjoy a rock-climbing wall to develop coordination, three large sandpits for sensory play, and a bike track to enhance their gross motor skills.
To ensure a well-rounded educational experience, children benefit from a combination of planned learning experiences, imaginative play, and the opportunity to build upon their individual interests. Our tailored Evolution Program is designed for children up to age three, while those between three and five join the Transition to School Program.
We understand the importance of nutrition in a child's development, which is why we provide a menu of five tasty and nutritious meals and snacks prepared by our in-house cook. Mealtimes become a cherished moment for children to enjoy with their friends and educators. Additionally, we provide all nappies and wipes, as well as cot linen (excluding stretcher bed linen).
Louisa, our experienced early childhood educator, brings over a decade of expertise to our centre. She is passionate about contributing to the fundamental years of children's learning and developing social skills. Louisa emphasizes the importance of diversity within the Canterbury community, as it fosters a sense of belonging and aids in the development of social skills. Watching children come together and build relationships with the local community brings her immense joy.
At Young Academics, our signature education programs provide a quality foundation for learning and developing social interactions with peers and educators. Our dedicated educators have strong relationships with our families, creating a loving, happy, and warm environment that encourages children to thrive.
We invite you to explore our state-of-the-art facilities in person, meet our local educators, and learn more about how our programs can benefit your child. We are proud to acknowledge and respect the Traditional Custodians across Australia, recognizing the continued cultural and spiritual connection of First Nations peoples to the land, sky, and waterways that surround us. We pay our respects to Elders past, present, and emerging.

"I have had my son at YA Canterbury since he was about 7months. The staff have always gone above and beyond to accomodate all his needs. He is so sad to leave. He will miss all his friends and educators. Thank you"
"This rating is only related to the Termination notice, otherwise the staff and environment is nice. Be aware this center has 6 weeks notice! While if you want to resign from a full time permanent job a 4 weeks notice is required, Child cares are free to draw their own lines with T&Cs. most of them have 3 or 4 weeks of notice, but this center has 6, Which is hard to time when moving house etc. If you don’t time it well you’ll be paying full fees to the new childcare until 6 weeks is finished. No organization is over looking this and since child cares are private institutes they can have their own rules in terms if fees and charges. Totally understand we agree to the T&Cs at enrollment, still 6 weeks is unfair."
"The educators at Young Academics are the most caring, kind and intuitive people that you could ever hope to take care of your child. My daughter started daycare when she was 10 months old, and over the last almost two years has grown into the confident, chatty little girl that she is now with the help of the staff. They really took the time to get to know her and provide her with the tools she needed to come out of her shell. The staff know all the children by name even if they aren't in that educator's room, and go above and beyond to make sure that each child feels valued. With all the daycare horror stories out there, I feel so lucky that we found Young Academics Canterbury - a place where I truly trust that the educators put the children and their wellbeing first."
"Young Academics Canterbury has really helped in supporting my twin children’s growth and development in the nursery. Staff have been so comforting in keeping me posted with updates and how their day is going in regards to sleep time, feeding and activities they participate in. The centre manager is very approachable and professional in her position. Would definitely recommend to any mother who’s going back to work and needs a refreshing and educational place to keep their child!"
