About the Business
Welcome to Burnside Kindergarten, located at 23 Lexington Drive in Burnside, Australia. We are an establishment that is dedicated to empowering and inspiring children and young people in Melbourne since 1883. Formerly known as TRY Australia, we are now Sparkways. Find out more about our rebranding and how it might affect you on our website.
At Burnside Kindergarten, we believe in supporting and empowering young people through meaningful connections. Our team of experienced and knowledgeable educators have been working in the early childhood industry for over 25 years. We are passionate about seeing each child grow and develop, knowing that we have played a part in teaching, supporting, and guiding them. We strongly believe in providing every child with the opportunity to receive quality education and care.
We value trusting, positive, collaborative, and inclusive relationships between children, staff, families, and the community. At Burnside Kindergarten, we want everyone to feel welcomed and that they belong. We believe that Belonging, Becoming, and Being are important aspects of a child's development.
Safety, security, support, and respect are paramount to us. We want every child, family, and educator to feel safe and valued. We believe that each child has the right to be an individual, to play, and to learn at their own pace and in their own way. Inclusion is a key value, and we want every child to feel important and valued for who they are.
We believe in working in partnership with families, parents, and educators to create the best possible outcomes for all children. Families are encouraged and supported to engage with our service, creating a sense of belonging and inclusion.
Our program provides children with the opportunity to learn through play, and our educators adhere to the National and State Frameworks. We offer different group options throughout the week, ensuring flexibility for families.
Starting from 2023, the Victorian Government is making kindergarten programs free for three and four-year-old children, saving families up to $2,500 per year. This initiative is part of the government's Best Start, Best Life reform, ensuring that all Victorian children have the best start in life.
We believe in open communication with families and actively seek their input into our curriculum. We use Story Park to share learning and stay connected, and our hallways showcase learning through documentation panels. We provide opportunities for informal and formal discussions daily.
Our curriculum is play-based and draws reference from socio-cultural theories of learning and teaching. We believe that play requires skilled educators to be intentional in all aspects of their practices. Our curriculum is influenced by individual children's learning styles, interests, families, and intentionally planned experiences.
We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we work and pay our respects to Elders past and present. We also celebrate diversity and value the lived experience of people from every ethnicity, faith, age, disability, culture, language, gender identity, and sexual orientation.
Come and join us at Burnside Kindergarten, where we strive to provide a nurturing and inclusive environment for your child's educational learning.
